  • This new gymnasium responds to the demand of the neighbors following the success of the pilot project, which welcomed nearly 27,500 users

  • Safety has been a very important criterion in designing the facility, which meets all quality and efficiency standards

The Las Rozas City Council, through the Sports Department, has installed 11 new strength training machines in Dehesa de Navalcarbón, following the success of the pilot project carried out as part of the campaign «Las Rozas, a City for Training» which between July 2023 and March 2024 welcomed nearly 27,500 users, with over 6,700 hours of usage.

The great reception of the proposal has been the main reason to materialize the idea in a facility that is now available to all residents. The Mayor of Las Rozas, José de la Uz, visited this new outdoor gym this morning, accompanied by the Sports Councillor, Juan Cabrera, where he could see the new sports facility and the different machines, located next to the canal in Dehesa de Navalcarbón, near the parking lot by Avenida Nuestra Señora del Retamar.

The space features 11 new machines, free to use and available 24 hours a day, catering to different muscle groups. Specifically, two machines are dedicated to back training, where one can practice the classic lat pulldown on one side and a seated row on the other; there are also two chest training machines, with exercises such as the classic bench press and incline press; the legs also have two machines, one for weighted squats and the other for variations in exercises targeting quadriceps, calves, hamstrings, etc. Additionally, smaller muscle groups have one machine each, allowing for bicep and tricep exercises with the classic curl and shoulder press. The facility is completed with two multi-exercise machines for core training, targeting the abs and central body, as well as the back and arms. The whole setup forms a complete outdoor gym for all residents.

Safety

The new machines comply with the UNE-EN 16630 standard and also hold various ISO certifications of the highest standards, ensuring users that they meet international standards for quality, safety, efficiency, and/or sustainability. They are made of galvanized steel, capable of withstanding harsh weather conditions, and are anchored on a mobile platform for increased efficiency of use.

Informational panels have been set up on the machines for proper use, and the Sports Department has created a section on the municipal website describing the different types of training, which can be accessed through this link. The Las Rozas City Council recommends that all users familiarize themselves with the operation of each machine before using it, especially those approaching this type of facility for the first time.
