Sala Azcona-Cineteca Madrid

The international magazine Time Out has released this week the ranking of the 50 most beautiful cinemas in the world, among which three Madrid spaces have been distinguished: Cineteca Madrid, in 4th place; Filmoteca Española–Cine Doré, in 9th place, and Sala Equis, in 21st place. The top ten is completed by Le Grand Rex (Paris), Pathé Tuschinski (Amsterdam), Village East Cinema (New York), The Electric (London), Cinema Dei Piccoli (Rome), The Astor (Melbourne), Puskin Art Cinema (Budapest) and Le Champo (Paris).

Regarding Cineteca Madrid, the magazine defines it as «a beautiful and unusual place» and highlights its programming, which «emphasizes independent films and deeper cuts, in addition to showcasing local filmmakers and visual artists.» Furthermore, it explains that «it is a great place to watch a Coen Brothers film, followed by a vermouth and a snack in the cozy outdoor patio.»

Of the Filmoteca Española–Cine Doré, Time Out highlights the historical character of its rooms and its velvet seats, which are part of «a paradise for cinephiles, covering everything from Hitchcock to Jarmusch.» On the other hand, Sala Equis is recognized for its inner courtyard and its movie offerings, «where you can watch old classics and the latest releases.» /
