Madrid celebra el X aniversario del rey Felipe VI con una carrera por lugares emblemáticos

Hidalgo y Cea en la salida de la carrera popular por el X aniversario de la proclamación del rey Felipe VI

Five thousand runners have participated in the popular race organized on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the proclamation of King Felipe VI, which has taken place through the same streets that the royal procession traveled in 2014. The delegate of Economy, Innovation, and Finance, Engracia Hidalgo, witnessed the start of this test in which the councilor in charge of Sports, Sonia Cea, also participated.

With a cannon shot executed by the Royal Guard, the race began with the start in Plaza de Oriente, passing through emblematic places in Madrid such as La Almudena Cathedral, Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Congress of Deputies, Neptune Fountain, Paseo del Prado, Botanical Garden, Cibeles Square, Gran Vía, or Plaza de España, to finish at Plaza de la Armería, which for the first time, hosted a sporting event of this nature.

Cea presented the awards, which included the absolute, master (from 40 years old), active military, and Municipal Police categories. The municipal police force merged its own race held annually for the celebration of its patron, San Juan, into this event.

The proceeds from the bib numbers are fully intended to support initiatives to promote athletics hand in hand with the Madrid Athletics Federation and Marathon Sports Association. Both entities have organized the race in collaboration with the Royal Guard, Municipal Police, and the City Council of Madrid. /
