The Mayor of Las Rozas, José de la Uz, presented the XXV Road Safety Education Awards on June 5th, corresponding to the 2024/25 school year, accompanied by the Councilor for Security and Emergencies, David Santos, and the Commissioner of Local Police, Manuel López.
During an event held at the Municipal Road Education Center, 50 children with the best results in the tests conducted by the tutor agents after the road safety education sessions in their classes participated.
The project involves approximately 1,200 5th-grade students from the 22 public, private, and charter schools in the municipality. It is divided into two phases: a theoretical phase, where Local Police agents visit schools to provide theoretical classes to students, whether as pedestrians, passengers, or bicycle riders, with an average of 25-30 students (one classroom) and lasting approximately 3 hours. The second phase is practical, conducted at the Las Rozas Municipal Road Education Center for 6th-grade students.
De la Uz expressed gratitude for the years of work done by the Local Police and emphasized that «the foundation of road safety, as well as coexistence, is respect for others, and thanks to these courses and the work done in educational institutions, Las Rozas will continue to be a safe place to live.»
