El Plan SURES aprueba 15 nuevos proyectos con una inversión de 16,2 millones de euros

Sanz, during his intervention at the XIV session of the Permanent Commission of the Development Plan for the south and east of Madrid (SURES) held this Thursday

The XIV session of the Permanent Commission of the Development Plan for the south and east of Madrid (SURES) was held today at the Pipo Velasco Youth Center with the participation of councilors from the nine districts that make up SURES, as well as representatives from associations and proximity councils that collaborate with the plan. This collaboration, as explained by the city’s deputy mayor, Inma Sanz, who chaired the meeting, «allows us to continue advancing in our commitment to territorial rebalancing in the city of Madrid.»

The plan, aimed at promoting development and equalizing the quality of life and opportunities in these nine districts with the rest of the city, has approved the inclusion of 15 new projects, with an investment of 16.2 million euros, to be carried out in the districts of Usera, Villa de Vallecas, Carabanchel, Vicálvaro, Puente de Vallecas, Villaverde, and Moratalaz. The number of projects developed by the plan since its inception in 2019 amounts to 246, of which 72% (176 actions) are already operational or in execution.

The 15 new actions approved since the last commission session, held in December, add to the 72 already planned by the SURES plan for 2025, with a total budget of 58.7 million euros.

As the deputy mayor explained, «this reflects that territorial rebalancing in the city of Madrid is an absolute priority for this City Council.» This is evidenced by figures such as the annual budget allocated to this policy, which has quadrupled in recent years, from 19.5 million euros in 2018 to 82 million in 2025, in addition to the regular budget.

Continuing with data on this policy throughout the city, Sanz pointed out that «the budget for rebalancing amounted to 260 million euros in the period 2020-2023, and in the current period, between 2024 and 2027, a sustained investment of over 320 million is planned, with 90% allocated to the nine districts of SURES.» All this with a high execution rate, which reached 77.5% last year.

New projects of the SURES Plan

Among the projects proposed by the Technical Table for Environmental Regeneration are the rehabilitation of green areas in Orcasitas (Usera), with a budget of 1.8 million euros, and the comprehensive remodeling works of the green area of Colonia Vilda (Villa de Vallecas), endowed with 525,000 euros.

From the Mobility and Transport and Public Space Recovery tables, approval has been given for the second phase of the remodeling of the old town of Carabanchel Bajo, with an investment of 1.5 million euros, along with the conditioning of inter-block zones between Camino Viejo de Villaverde street and Rafaela Ybarra avenue in Usera, with a budget of one million euros, and the renovation of Palmeras Square (Carabanchel), with 800,000 euros.

At the Technical Table for Culture and Sports, investments in football fields totaling around 3.5 million euros stand out, with interventions in the San Isidro Park field (Gorrión) in Carabanchel, the construction of new facilities in the El Cañaveral field (Vicálvaro), and the remodeling of the Santa Eugenia field in Villa de Vallecas.

On the other hand, interventions in four municipal sports centers (CDM) with a total budget of over five million euros include the comprehensive renovation of the Faustina Valladolid CDM in Vicálvaro, the renewal of athletics facilities at the Moratalaz CDM, the rehabilitation of the Wilfred Agbonavbare CDM in Puente de Vallecas, and the expansion of the Plata and Castañar CDM in Villaverde. These interventions are complemented by an investment of 1.8 million euros for the rehabilitation and remodeling of two basic sports facilities (IDB): The Cerro Almodóvar-Los Yébenes IDB in Latina and the Lucano (Antonio Palacios) IDB in San Blas-Canillejas, as well as a project to promote sports practice in Puente de Vallecas. /
