Gustavo Severien, the deputy mayor and councilor of Finance, has highlighted the importance of private sponsorship in public life.
Alcalá de Henares, May 7, 2025.- The mayor of Alcalá de Henares, Judith Piquet, together with the third deputy mayor and councilor of Finance, Contracting, Municipal Heritage, and Internal Regime, Gustavo Severien, presided over the recognition ceremony for the participation in the sponsorship of municipal activities by a total of 33 Alcalá companies during the years 2023 and 2024.
Piquet explained that this was an «appropriate and necessary act of gratitude towards all the companies and entrepreneurs who have dedicated their efforts and generosity to our city. It is also to highlight and emphasize the importance that this collaboration has for enriching our social and cultural life.»
A total of 33 companies have made over fifty contributions in kind to a dozen cultural leisure events, popular festivals, and social events, amounting to nearly 220,000 euros.
Beyond the numbers, the mayor wanted to emphasize that sponsorship is «much more than a simple act of support or occasional collaboration to gain promotion, public image, and visibility. We know that there is a great sense of service and a strong commitment to social responsibility when a company or a business decides to support and finance a specific public event by providing its resources, skills, and abilities, thus contributing to improving our community life and promoting the external projection of Alcalá.»
Severien, on his part, explained that private sponsorships «constitute a very productive support channel to favor and increase the range of proposals for culture, leisure, and dissemination with the highest excellence in a city like Alcalá de Henares. Bearing in mind, therefore, -he continued- the importance of this valuable collaboration alternative from the private sector with public activity, the municipal government of Alcalá de Henares has set out to promote and enhance it as much as possible for the future.»
