Presentation of the 21 Districts Program
The Madrid Municipal Council inaugurates the sixth season of the cultural dynamization program for the 21 districts, offering over 200 proposals for free and accessible artistic activities in the neighborhoods of the capital. The program aims to bring cultural experiences closer to the community, with a focus on accessibility, diversity, inclusion, and sustainability. The Deputy Mayor for Culture, Tourism, and Sports, Marta Rivera de la Cruz, presented the 2025 season, which will feature a wide range of cultural events including music, theater, circus, dance, puppetry, exhibitions, audiovisual events, and outdoor activities for collective creation and training.
During the presentation, the Deputy Mayor emphasized that the 21 Districts program has become a cultural staple in the city, open to continuous improvements and changes. The program not only enriches the cultural offerings in the districts but also promotes decentralization of culture, social cohesion, and diversity in Madrid. It aims to engage citizens in workshops and activities, contributing to the city’s cultural identity as a capital of culture.
The event paid tribute to the importance of culture in people’s lives, featuring a performance by renowned actor Héctor Altera accompanied by guitarist José Luis Merlín. The day also included a spontaneous performance by a young Spanish dancer from a contemporary dance company.
Various Proposals for All Audiences
The program for 2025 brings over 200 artistic activities of various genres, prioritizing local talent and international artists residing in Madrid. Events range from jazz concerts and family workshops to comedy shows and participatory dance sessions for senior citizens.
On February 14th, audiences can enjoy a weekend full of cultural experiences, including jazz performances, family workshops, and comedy shows at different cultural centers across the city.
The program lineup features a diverse range of artists and companies, offering a mix of music, theater, visual arts, and dance performances for audiences of all ages.
Two New Cycles
In addition to the existing program, two new cycles have been introduced: «Slow Culture,» which explores cultural experiences in unconventional spaces, and «Discussions at Heights,» engaging cultural figures in broad discussions.
These new cycles complement the existing activities, including interactive musical performances, community workshops, and thematic training sessions for different age groups.
Accessibility, Multiculturalism, Family Culture, and Youth Art
A new festival called «Something is Right, Something is Wrong» will focus on diversity and accessibility, featuring performances, workshops, and installations for audiences of all backgrounds.
The Sub25 festival in June will showcase emerging artists and urban culture, while the September edition of 21 Districts will cater to families with a diverse range of shows and interactive activities.
