Rivera de la Cruz en la XXIV Jornada de Pintura al Aire Libre en la Ermita de San Antonio de la Florida

The delegate of Culture, Tourism, and Sports, Marta Rivera de la Cruz, attended today the XXIV Open Air Painting Day at the Hermitage of San Antonio de la Florida, coinciding with the celebration of International Museum Day. This initiative, promoted by the City Council to encourage artistic and creative activity, has brought together artists who have painted their works outdoors in one of the most unique settings of Madrid’s heritage. The pieces, created with freedom of style and technique, have revolved around the hermitage and its surroundings, including references to the paintings of Goya that decorate its interior.

Rivera de la Cruz emphasized the value of this event, stating that «art in Madrid is not only found in museums, but also within the people of Madrid, who express it through the paintings we can see here today.» She also pointed out that «this is a perfect initiative for art to take to the streets in such a special environment as the Hermitage of San Antonio de la Florida.»

Participants, registered in the open call last March, competed for three awards. The total amount of the prizes amounts to 4,000 euros, distributed in a first prize of 2,100 euros, a second prize of 1,100 euros, and a third prize of 800 euros. The award-winning works will be exhibited to the public at the Museum of Madrid History between May 20 and June 3, offering a new opportunity to enjoy local talent and a contemporary view of one of the city’s most emblematic landmarks. /
