Espacio Abierto presenta propuestas culturales para mayo

Espacio Abierto, the center of the Area of Culture, Tourism, and Sports of the City of Madrid dedicated to childhood and adolescence, has scheduled new cultural proposals for the month of May, including two theatrical productions, a nature-focused playset, and a dozen workshops promoting creativity.

The theatrical agenda kicks off with Mil y una, by Caricata Teatro, which retells the classic literature One Thousand and One Nights from a contemporary perspective, using kitchen elements as puppets and adapting the story for all audiences. Scheherazade will be the narrator of this piece that brings together well-known stories from One Thousand and One Nights. The performances are included as part of the Titirimundi festival extension.

The second proposal comes with Malebable, by Cía. Helena Lizarri, as part of the Pies Inquietos festival. A sensory movement show where bodies and objects dance together to create a series of poetic images. In this journey through sensations and senses, the characters transform according to the materials, objects, and textures introduced on stage.

Nature, the protagonist of the workshops

In May, Espacio Abierto connects more than ever with nature through various cultural proposals where the environment takes on a special role, featuring a green oasis, a meadow, a forest, and a city garden.

In Biosphere, a play ecosystem designed by La Pieza and Ephimera Play, a bioludic symbiosis is created between the habitat and its inhabitants. On this occasion, the Urbanoteca transforms into an unexpected green oasis, a space of surprise and discovery that invites to reconnect with nature and explore natural systems through a journey through different imaginary and playable landscapes.

On the other hand, The Meadow by Art Stories, aims to discover the vast diversity of small plants, each with its own special shape and design, found in a patch of grass. This workshop in painting and sculpture explores textures, strokes, stamping, and brushstrokes to represent in an artistic piece all the variety of greens that fill the meadows.

In A Place in the Forest by IngobernArt, participants delve into a particular natural environment where they meet the beings that inhabit it and collectively build a small space. An invitation to explore, discover, and create new forms of life and relationships through play.

Also, The City’s Tools, the new proposal from Theke by El Hilo Rojo, aims to approach nature from the city, transforming the space into an urban area with building-boxes, projections, and treasure-objects to inhabit through play. In May, workshops on cyanotype like Botanical Expedition by Fábrica de Texturas, or Zine and Comics by Colectivo HUL, continue to be held.
