Subasta de 3.600 objetos perdidos en Madrid: joyas, relojes y bisutería

Tomorrow Monday, July 7, Tuesday 8, and Wednesday 9, the auction promoted by the Madrid City Council will open its doors in person to give a second life to almost 3,600 units of jewelry, watches, and costume jewelry deposited at the Lost Property Office. From 10:00 to 17:00, at number 38 Calle Nicolás Morales de Carabanchel, potential buyers can inspect the lots before bidding on them, after registering on the Surus Inversa website, the auction manager, by clicking on each lot or on the ‘visit’ button. The auction will continue in virtual format until July 17 at 12:00.

The auctioned pieces are grouped into 82 lots, generally based on their materials to try to achieve the best possible final price. Prices for the lots start at 4 euros for a costume jewelry piece, up to 2,974 euros for a lot of 77 rings, earrings, pendants, and gold bracelets. The final sale amount will be deposited in the Municipal Treasury, and its destination will be the City Council budget.

Watch enthusiasts can find items such as an Omega and three TAG Heuer watches, each priced at 75 euros, and a lot of 24 Swatch watches with a starting price of 97 euros. One of the most coveted pieces is a gold Fendi watch, with a starting price of 400 euros. In the gold pieces category, a standout is an 18-karat bracelet with an initial price of 264 euros or a chain for 195 euros.

As for silver items, there are 18 lots available for purchase. The most affordable consists of three chokers with a starting price of 7 euros. The most expensive lot includes 71 chains with pendants and is offered starting at 791 euros.

Lastly, pearl pieces are also available to the public, including a necklace with a silver clasp and a starting price of 110 euros, or a lot of 21 pearl items with a starting value of 201 euros.

The appraisal, cleaning, and photographing of the pieces are handled by Surus Inversa, where the auction takes place on their website, allowing users to view photos of each item and place bids.

Over 77,800 items deposited at the Lost Property Office in 2024

Throughout 2024, the municipal office received over 77,800 items, the majority coming from the city’s airport.

After two years of being deposited, if not claimed by the owners or finders, the items become municipal property to be given a second life. If no municipal unit can make use of them, items in good condition are auctioned off.
