El Ayuntamiento de Torrejón de Ardoz mejora su servicio de ambulancias

Torrejón de Ardoz continues to strengthen its commitment to emergency healthcare by incorporating a new ambulance into the Civil Protection service. This new vehicle, a 165 HP Mercedes Sprinter with automatic transmission, is designed for the urgent transport of patients and equipped with advanced technology to provide a quick and efficient response in critical situations. The mayor, Alejandro Navarro, the councilor of Security, Alberto Cantalejo, and the coordinator of the 24-hour Ambulance Service, Rafael Fernández, have presented the new medical transport.

Torrejón de Ardoz, February 13, 2025. With this new automobile, the City Council funds three ambulances that provide service in the city: the 24-hour Ambulance and two additional ambulances to support this emergency medical vehicle. These two latter ones are managed by Civil Protection of Torrejón de Ardoz. In this way, the City Council makes more resources available to healthcare services for better attention, in addition to the units of the SUMMA of the Community of Madrid.

Main features of the ambulance:

 Basic Life Support (BLS) – Type B: Equipped with immobilization material and a semi-automatic defibrillator, with the possibility of becoming an Advanced Life Support Unit with the appropriate equipment and personnel.
 12-inch constant monitor, with pulse oximeter, temperature probe, blood pressure measurement, and electrocardiogram.
 Dual monitor with cameras: Rear camera and interior camera in the medical compartment.
 Improved optical/acoustic signaling system, with reflective labeling for greater visibility, especially at night.
 Larger capacity refrigerator to improve medication preservation. Design optimized according to the recommendations of the Civil Protection technical team.

Additionally, it is important to note that Civil Protection of Torrejón de Ardoz has a highly qualified team. Twenty Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) will be responsible for operating this new ambulance along with the rest of the emergency vehicles. Their work is essential to ensure an effective response to any healthcare emergency in the municipality.

«Although medical transport is not a municipal competence, the City Council has decided to reinforce this service to reduce response times to emergencies and improve the transfer of residents to the Torrejón University Hospital,» said the mayor, who added that «with this investment, Torrejón de Ardoz consolidates one of the best emergency medical transport services in the Community of Madrid, combining municipal resources with those of the SUMMA to offer residents a quick and efficient response in case of emergency.»
