The mayor of Alcalá, Judith Piquet, has visited the improvement works in the urban environment that are being carried out around the Santa Teresa shopping galleries in Reyes Católicos, as part of the Alcalá Improves Your Neighborhoods Plan, which will reach different areas of the city this summer.
The mayor, accompanied by deputy mayors Víctor Acosta and Cristina Alcañiz, has visited these works, which include the improvement of the urban environment in the paving of the Reyes Católicos-Los Gorriones area with an investment of 142,308.25 euros.
During her tour of the works, the mayor stated, «These works respond to historical demands from the residents. These are streets that have gone many years without action. With these interventions, the City Council continues to bring investments to all neighborhoods, fulfilling its roadmap: a more accessible, modern Alcalá focused on the daily well-being of its residents.»
In this sense, the mayor reported, «We continue to work with actions, not promises. We bring investments to all neighborhoods so that Alcalá becomes a more modern, dignified city designed for the daily lives of its residents.»
This intervention covers part of the urban environment of the Reyes Católicos neighborhood within the municipality, mainly focusing on the roadways of streets such as Doncel, Plaza del Barro, Santa Teresa, La Rábida, Pinzón, Vargas Machuca, Marque de Mondéjar, Nuestra Señora del Pilar, and Duquesa de Medinaceli. In total, nearly 5,000 square meters of asphalt and sidewalks.
This project has a 6-week execution period, and the actions aim to bring improvements in accessibility through pavement renewal, addressing heavily deteriorated areas, expanding tree pits raised by trees, thus avoiding the risk of pedestrian falls.
Furthermore, operations will be carried out for repainting and asphalting parking spaces, renewing deteriorated urban furniture, repairing roadways throughout the scope of the intervention, and asphalting, improving mobility and safety.
Investments from the ‘Alcalá Improves Your Neighborhoods’ Plan
This intervention in Reyes Católicos and Los Gorriones is part of the Alcalá Improves Your Neighborhoods Plan, which will lead to one of the most significant urban transformations undertaken in the city in recent years. This summer, various actions that have been historical demands from residents will be developed.
In addition to this intervention, the construction of a 350-space parking lot in the Nuestra Señora de Belén area is underway, along with works that have already begun on Avenida de Guadalajara or will soon start in Tabla Pintora-Nueva Alcalá, Ronda Fiscal, and the vicinity of Lope de Vega. In total, over 4.6 million euros in works that are either in progress or will commence in the coming days as part of this ‘Alcalá Improves Your Neighborhoods’ Plan.
