Visita de González a obras de rehabilitación urbana en Fuencarral

The delegate of Housing Policies and president of EMVS Madrid, Álvaro González, accompanied by the councilor of Fuencarral-El Pardo, José Antonio Martínez Páramo, visited today the urban rehabilitation works that the Municipal Housing and Land Company of Madrid is carrying out in the Directed Village of Fuencarral, in the district of Fuencarral-El Pardo. The City Council of the capital is executing various reurbanization actions in this Area of Urban Regeneration and Renewal (ARRUR) in order to improve accessibility and mobility in the interblock spaces of this historic residential area of Madrid.

During his visit, González emphasized the importance of this action, which affects an area of 7,614 m² and aims to improve the accessibility of emergency services and the adaptation of common spaces to ensure better pedestrian mobility. Specifically, the section of Manresa street has been rearranged to facilitate the access of emergency vehicles to the interblock areas; ramps, stairs, and existing flowerbeds have been adapted; public lighting has been renovated with low-consumption LED luminaires, and new drains have been integrated into the drainage network.

The delegate explained that the objective of these works is to promote a more accessible, habitable, and sustainable city, as «these types of actions not only improve the quality of life of residents but also demonstrate the commitment of the City Council of Madrid to the regeneration of our most consolidated neighborhoods,» González stated.

The total cost of these works, which will be completed in a few weeks, is 550,000 euros, of which the City Council of Madrid has invested 330,000 euros, while the remaining 220,000 euros have been financed through the State Housing Plan 2018-2021.

In addition to the work in Fuencarral-El Pardo, EMVS Madrid has nine more urban regeneration interventions underway in different districts such as Carabanchel, Villaverde, Vicálvaro, Puente de Vallecas, San Blas-Canillejas, and Usera. In total, these reurbanization works amount to an investment of almost 12.7 million euros. /
