Talento emergente en la quinta edición de La Sub25

21 DISTRITOS, the cultural dynamization program of the Culture, Tourism, and Sports Area of the City Council of Madrid, presents the fifth edition of La Sub25, the festival starring young talent that will take place this Saturday, June 28, from 8:30 pm to 2:30 am, at Nave de Terneras, Explanada Negra Multiusos, and the surroundings of Madrid Río (Arganzuela). Like all activities of 21 DISTRITOS, the festival is free and open to all, and will have accessibility measures in place so that everyone can enjoy culture without barriers.

La Sub25 will offer a wide program composed of the emerging talent of the city, presenting itself as an open space where different voices and disciplines come together to promote dialogue, reflection, and collaboration. With degrowth as one of its main thematic axes – the commitment to moderate unlimited economic growth as a response to the social and ecological crisis – the festival aims to give visibility to artistic creation, creative power, and multiculturalism of the youngest artists, in collaboration with Madrid Orgullo (MADO).

A Program for Everyone

The Live Arts Stage of Madrid Río will kick off with the DJ set by PatataOnStereo, followed by dance and performance projects by Colectivo MayMae, Irene Díaz Lázaro, NTAMO Performance Company, Andrea El Ameri, Colectivo MIAÜ – from La Colé project – Irene Ducajú, Las almejas que hablan (Carmen Rojas and Karelis Zambrano), and express presentations of emerging artists’ projects with 3 minutes of glory.

In the Explanada Negra Multiusos, there will be the graphic zone, where the collaborative murals of Circo Diverso and Madrid Street Art Project will be proposed, resulting in an ephemeral urban art piece built by many hands. Carmen Lorente De Nó will invite participation in her artistic installation Lost and found in Rome, delving into time, attention, and the possibility of building narratives from fragments. Additionally, Beatriz López-Linares will invite participation in the living installation Trozos de pared, to reflect on the ephemeral, recycling, and visual saturation of urban space.

In the participative zone, visitors can enjoy various activities to experience culture firsthand, such as Chico Trópico’s La C.O.S.A – Centro Organizado de Sonido Ambulante -; El viaje, by Tombs Creatius Company; the interactive installation by BeAnotherLab The Machine to be Another; G-nesis, an interactive show with site-specific dramaturgy; Laberint II, the participative installation to develop the senses with Itinerània Company; and workshops on juggling, aerial skills, and balance with Circo Diverso.

Eugenia Tenenbaum and Mario Obrero will present Con nocturnidad y alevosía, an encounter where poetry, critical thinking, and night intertwine to invoke invisible references and celebrate what shines in the shadows. Also, La Batucada que Entiende will fill the festival with music and cheerful rhythms.

Nave de Terneras will immerse in the immersive music of Mirko Nisenson with his show Confío, and PatataOnStereo will offer a closing DJ set to explore music in all its forms and styles. On the other hand, Colectivo Masquepalabras will perform the slam poetry show Poesía o Barbarie.

Throughout the festival, visitors can also visit the exhibition of young art featuring artists Max Naranjo, Mohamed El Ouardy, Candela Espada Revuelto, Lourdes Muñiz Banciella, and Natalia Amor Reja. Additionally, the fanzines exhibition will be presented as a space for experimentation and inspiration to enjoy the work of Ali Lalanne Rubio, Cristina Moreno, Gustavo Galiano, Guisa, Clara Molina, Theo Corral, and Iria Rodríguez Perera. They will all participate in a conversation about the concept of identity in fanzines, along with graphic humorist and illustrator Ruango.

This program will be complemented by active points, which will include a variety of participative activities to reflect and learn about fundamental topics such as equality, diversity, accessibility, inclusion, and sustainability with groups like Music For all, Europa Joven Madrid, Apoyo Positivo, 33% cultura sin límites, or Punto Violeta, among others.

Furthermore, Spanish Sign Language (LSE) professionals will tour the festival sharing basic concepts through the LSE ambulante activity. Finally, in the Tunéate zone, visitors can enjoy sustainable fashion with Raveestilo, create colorful patterns on the skin, change looks in glow makeup, hairdressing, henna, and nails booths, and discover new trends.

With this fifth edition of the festival, 21 DISTRITOS reaffirms its commitment to young culture and establishes La Sub25 as a reference space for collective creation, artistic experimentation, and critical thinking. An essential event to discover the creative pulse of the new generations and experience a night of art, diversity, and community in the heart of Arganzuela.
