The carefree and unprejudiced spirit of Horteralia will conquer Ifema Madrid this Saturday without complexes with a lineup where La Casa Azul will shine brightly alongside other legendary names in Spanish music and stars like Karina, Nebulossa, Sonia y Selena, and Vicky Larraz, among others.
In an interview with Europa Press, Guille Milkyway, the mastermind behind La Casa Azul, confesses that he would have loved to experience the New York of the 70s, in the explosion of disco music, and that, after 25 years of career, he still feels like the group is just getting started.
Regarding Horteralia, the festival that brings together the best of past, present, and future music with artists willing to give it their all on stage, Milkyway admits with laughter that he is more of a «low-profile» person and that he doesn’t have big plans for his «tacky outfit,» although he points out that he loves to see people dressing «without prejudices.» «I wish everyone could go to work with the same freedom that people dress for Horteralia. The world would be a bit better,» he reflects.
In his conversation with Europa Press, the artist delves deeper into what it means to «act» in everyday life. «Often it seems like you only do theater at festivals like Horteralia, but I always have the feeling that many people do it in their daily lives, working in places they wouldn’t want to work or dressing in a way they wouldn’t want to dress,» he points out.
The event at the Madrid fairground promises to be a blast with a top-notch lineup. The leader of La Casa Azul mentions that he could happily sing «Cuando llega el calor, los chicos se enamoran», any song by Karina or OBK, «Zorra» by Nebulosa, or «No controles.» «These songs are part of the collective imagination and should be celebrated,» he affirms.
Horteralia will open its doors at 3:30 p.m. and its program will kick off with Karina’s concert (4:30 p.m.), followed by Fórmula Abierta (5:00 p.m.), OBK (6:00 p.m.), Amistades Peligrosas (7:00 p.m.), La Perra y el Cari (7:45 p.m.), Sharonne (8:30 p.m.), Vicky Larraz (9:30 p.m.), La Casa Azul (10:30 p.m.), Nebulossa (12:00 a.m.), and Sonia y Selena (1:00 a.m.).
With a festival that celebrates music without labels or complexes, La Casa Azul fits perfectly. «We are very happy because it’s not usually our usual environment. We have been very located in the indie scene, and stepping out of that scene is refreshing,» Guille confesses.
Additionally, at a time when the band is immersed in live performances, La Casa Azul appreciates taking the stage at festivals like Horteralia, «which stem from a more liberated idea.» «They work well to remove weight and silliness from the world of music,» he emphasizes.
LA CASA AZUL: 25 YEARS AND NEW ALBUM
La Casa Azul celebrates 25 years in music, a journey that Milkyway describes as a path with «many different stages.» «It seems like many years and you feel a bit old, but I feel very fortunate. If at 20 someone had told me I would have this career, I wouldn’t have believed it,» he narrates.
Since the beginning, Guille admits that music has always been very present in his life. «As a child, I always asked for things related to music. At 12 or 13, I discovered recording, and what I liked was making songs and recording them,» he recalls. However, he acknowledges that carving out a career was not an immediate path. «The world makes us understand that this is not a way to make a living,» he laments.
Regarding the future of the band, the leader of La Casa Azul highlights that a new album is already in the works, following ‘La Gran Esfera’ (2019), although he anticipates that his way of working «will elongate the timelines.» «When you work alone, the times stretch out, you don’t have anyone to tell you to leave it as is, but the idea is to release an album this year,» he tells Europa Press.
«Before April, I hope to have a new single. We have already released four, and looking ahead to the second half of the year, we will probably bring the album to light,» he emphasizes.
To cope with the wait, fans of Guille Milkyway and La Casa Azul can enjoy the concert they will give at Horteralia (Ifema Madrid), where nostalgia and music of all styles and forms intertwine without prejudices on a dance floor where boredom will be totally out of fashion.
