Yesterday, the mayor of Las Rozas, José de la Uz, received the Medal of Merit in Cyberdefense, awarded by the Professional Association of New Technology Experts (PETEC) to recognize the work of all those who help cybersecurity from their workplace.
During the award ceremony, held at the Technological Security Center, De la Uz thanked an award that acknowledges the work carried out from the City Council «strengthening our cybersecurity systems and procedures, as well as raising awareness among citizens and promoting cybersecurity. Through the Local Police, we work with educational centers to educate students, and in all kinds of awareness and sensitization initiatives.»
In 2022, the City Council of Las Rozas created the Information Security Committee to work on cybersecurity tools and the update and improvement of network electronics and perimeter security of municipal systems. In 2023, the Security Operations Center was launched, responsible for the centralized supervision of all the information technology infrastructure of the City Council. In addition, Las Rozas is part of the National Cybersecurity Operators Network, in which very few councils participate.
