The small and medium commerce of Alcobendas is one of the top priorities of the Local Police in their actions aimed at maintaining public safety in the municipality. To achieve this, a channel of communication is established with the merchants through the Commercial Activity Protection Plan to understand the issues faced by each establishment and plan the patrolling of the police units focused on community policing, mainly in the Central and Northern districts. In 2024, 131 scheduled visits were conducted.
Foot patrols
In the main commercial areas of both districts, agents patrol on foot, in close contact with the shop owners. Last year, plainclothes patrols dedicated over 5,000 hours to patrolling the main avenues and streets, with a total of 5,910 interventions by Judicial Police agents. «We maintain a very close and tight relationship with the shopkeeper to understand their reality and keep their suggestions in mind,» emphasizes the Councilor for Public Safety, Carlos Rodrigo.
Additionally, direct contact is maintained with the Association of Entrepreneurs of Alcobendas-AICA and with the Association of Merchants and Hosteliers «La Menina.» In the last two years, the Local Police have carried out 16 interventions related to illegal street vending.
Facilitating mobility
Agents update the commercial registry of the municipality, monitor to detect individuals who may disrupt the normal course of commercial and business activities, schedule surveillance during opening and closing hours, visit establishments that have been victims of criminal acts, and pay attention to operating licenses as well.
Likewise, they monitor traffic flow in commercial areas, prevent infractions, and above all, facilitate pedestrian mobility, with special attention to crosswalks.
