Madrid se mueve al ritmo del chotis con taller organizado por el Ayuntamiento.

La delegada de Cultura, Turismo y Deporte, Marta Rivera de la Cruz, ha asistido a esta actividad en la que se han inscrito 720 personas

The delegate of Culture, Tourism, and Sports, Marta Rivera de la Cruz, has attended the second day of the Chotis Workshop organized by the City Council of Madrid at the Círculo de Bellas Artes as a prelude to the San Isidro Festivities 2025.

Taught by the Federation of Traditional Madrid Groups, the workshop celebrates its second edition following the success of last year’s participation. Over three days and in two daily sessions, a total of 720 people, guided by expert chulapas and chulapos, learn the basic steps of the most traditional dance in a festive and participatory atmosphere.

The activity, free and open to the public, sold out its spots within hours of registration opening, confirming the growing interest in this Madrid tradition. The goal is for both locals and visitors to practice their new skills during the celebrations in honor of the city’s patron saint.

The programming of the San Isidro Festivities will focus on the traditional culture with numerous participatory and intergenerational proposals in emblematic spaces such as Plaza Mayor, the gardens of Las Vistillas, the Pradera de San Isidro, and Matadero Madrid, which will once again host a large popular street party.

Within the section ‘Popular and Traditional Madrid,’ activities such as ¡Madrid: dance with us to the sound of our music! (Saturday 10, in Las Vistillas), the third edition of Dancing through Madrid (Sunday 11, from Puerta del Sol), and the 41st Festival of Madrid Dances (Thursday 15, in Plaza Mayor) stand out, as well as zarzuela performances, Spanish dance, and regional dances. /
