The Tourism Councilor, Almudena Maíllo, has participated in the professional meeting of travel agencies ProTour 2025, which this year begins its celebration in Madrid before visiting seven other cities in Spain and Portugal. The fourth edition of this event, organized by the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies (CEAV), has brought together more than 200 professionals from travel agencies, destinations, and companies in the sector.
During the meeting, Maíllo pointed out the «key role of tourism in the economy of Madrid and as a generator of well-being for the citizens» and highlighted the commitment of the City Council to consolidate the «Madrid model» of tourism, based on «decentralization, seasonality smoothing, and the protection of the city’s identity.» In this sense, she stated that 2025 will make «Madrid the capital of experiential tourism» with a program that will include major sports, cultural, and gastronomic events. The councilor emphasized to the travel agencies «the sector’s responsibility to continue collaborating in the promotion of responsible and sustainable tourism, capable of attracting high-value visitors who contribute to the international projection of the capital.»
