The delegated councilor for Tourism, Almudena Maíllo, presented today the gastronomic routes that the capital will host in 2025 as part of ‘Come and experience it’, the initiative organized by Hostelería Madrid, in collaboration with the City Council of Madrid and Mahou San Miguel, which proposes to explore different areas of the capital while enjoying its exquisite gastronomy. Also present at the presentation of the routes were the councilors of Carabanchel, Carlos Izquierdo; Moratalaz, Nacho Pezuela, and Chamberí, Jaime González-Taboada.
San Blas-Canillejas (June 5-15), Moratalaz (June 19-29), Carabanchel (September 4-14), Retiro (September 18-28), and Olavide (October 2-12) will be the focus of this tourist and gastronomic proposal that suggests points of interest to visit along with a selection of bars, restaurants, and taverns in each area. The participating hospitality establishments will offer a special tapa and a third of Mahou San Miguel, and users will be able to participate with their consumptions in a digital promotion. In all the routes, a professional jury will evaluate the presented tapas to choose the three best ones in each of the neighborhoods.
During the presentation, Maíllo stated that «Madrid’s gastronomy is one of the city’s greatest attractions and the perfect plan to rediscover and experience our neighborhoods.» For the delegated councilor, «the ‘Come and experience it’ routes help us decentralize tourism and distribute the positive impact of the sector throughout the city.»
The initiative, which started last year with routes through Usera, Madrid Río, Aluche, and Carabanchel, also contributes to adding new experiences to Madrid’s tourist offer, associated with one of the capital’s main tourist assets, gastronomy. Madrid’s culinary proposal is one of the most valued attributes by travelers in Madrid, who gave it an outstanding rating in the 2024 Tourist Perception Survey. In addition, Madrid has positioned itself as the best gastronomic destination in Europe and the fifth best in the world, according to the magazine Time Out.
Through initiatives like the gastronomic routes, the City Council of Madrid demonstrates its constant support for the Madrid hospitality sector. /
