The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, accompanied by the deputy mayor, Inma Sanz, and other members of the Government team and spokespersons of the municipal groups, attended today the traditional field mass in honor of San Isidro Labrador, patron saint of Madrid, held in the Pradera de San Isidro. The ceremony was presided over by the cardinal archbishop of Madrid, José Cobo Cano, and was organized by the Pontifical and Royal Sacramental Archconfraternity of San Pedro, San Andrés, and San Isidro, in collaboration with the City Council of Madrid.
At the end of the mass, the mayor visited the Hermitage of the Saint, famous for its miraculous water fountain, which popular tradition attributes healing properties to. Very close to the hermitage lies the Pradera de San Isidro, a meeting point for locals and visitors during one of the most popular and traditional festivals in the city. In this festive atmosphere, the mayor concluded his tour.
As every year, this religious celebration has become one of the most significant moments of the main day of the San Isidro Festival, which culminates today after seven days of popular, cultural, and festive activities in various parts of the city.
During the afternoon, the celebrations will continue with the blessing of families starting at 4:00 p.m. Subsequently, at 5:00 p.m., a storyteller will bring the story of San Isidro Labrador and his wife, Santa María de la Cabeza, closer to the youngest ones. The family program is completed with the concert of the vocal music sextet Meraki For Kids, while the main stage will close the festive day with the concerts of Modestia Aparte, at 8:30 p.m., and Los Manolos, at 10:30 p.m., who will put the finishing touch on this space at the San Isidro Festival 2025.
