The Governing Board has approved the extension of the service contract for the launch and management of the Madrid Video Game Campus, a space under the Delegated Area of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, for an amount of 2.68 million euros, extending from September 1, 2025, to November 30, 2026, as announced by the Deputy Mayor and municipal spokesperson, Inma Sanz, at a press conference.
For over two years, the City Council has been promoting Madrid in Game, a project for the professional development and promotion of the video game industry, a sector with great potential for quality job creation that represents a significant opportunity for Madrid in terms of positioning in a strategic sector.
The Video Game Campus is a space of over 3,000 m2 located in Casa de Campo, inaugurated in December 2022, with three pavilions to provide a meeting point, learning, and support for entrepreneurship in the sector. In addition to providing participants with a physical place to work, establish contacts, and access three high-tech laboratories in sound, video, and virtual and augmented reality to promote the development of their companies, it acts as a catalyst to foster and retain talent in the video game industry to create a strong and competitive ecosystem in the capital.
The goal is for this space to become a hub of the video game industry in Spain and Europe, promoting the creation of new companies and quality employment with highly qualified professionals.
In this sense, Madrid in Game has supported 135 projects since the launch of its entrepreneurship program specialized in the video game sector, the Start IN UP Program, which recently started its fifth edition with 58 startups.
Thanks to this program, which adapts to the different business profiles based on the maturation stage of each selected company, more than 200 jobs have been created and over 8.7 million euros have been raised in funding rounds.
Madrid, European epicenter for video game events
Madrid in Game’s journey during this time has already positioned the city of Madrid as the European epicenter for hosting events in the sector, witnessing international celebrations such as Valorant Masters or the Call of Duty League, which took place for the first time in Europe.
In addition to attracting events to the Spanish capital, the municipal initiative is now focused on internationalization, taking Spanish projects to international fairs such as eMerge Americas in Miami, the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco, or Gamescom in Cologne.
