The most anticipated campaign by the residents of the city, Los Veranos de Alcobendas, is now underway. Today, the Mayor of Alcobendas, Rocío García Alcántara, the Sports Councillor, Jesús Tortosa, and the Culture Councillor, Félix Casanova, presented it at an event held at the swimming pool of the Valdelasfuentes Sports City.
Thousands of people of all ages will participate in this initiative, which includes urban colonies – combining family reconciliation with leisure and learning – with over 1800 spots; Nautical, Multi-adventure, and Nature and Environment camps for 425 children and young people, and nearly 2,000 spots for residents from six months onwards in sports activities, camps, and mini-camps.
In addition to the above, there will be English art schools, circus techniques workshops, or urban dance for young people. Also, a variety of sports camps and activities: from swimming to soccer or basketball, to more unique sports like fencing, pickleball, rhythmic gymnastics, or crossfitness. Grandparents and grandchildren will share a camp with intergenerational activities, games, excursions, pool… As usual, there will also be spots in the colonies for people with disabilities, totaling 150.
Urban colonies with new registration features
A total of 1,800 participants will enjoy urban colonies this summer, with the main objectives of meeting the reconciliation needs of families and creating an educational, safe, and fun space for the children of Alcobendas.
This year, the urban colonies program will take place in July at CEIP Bachiller Alonso López, Castilla, Daoiz y Velarde, Emilio Casado, Valdepalitos, and Federico García Loca, the latter also during August. Along with the activities at the school, as every year, there will be trips to the José Caballero Sports Center pool to cope with the summer heat. Additionally, in July, there will be trips to shows at La Esfera and in August, to the cinema to watch new movies.
One of the major innovations of Los Veranos de Alcobendas 2025 concerns the registration process for colonies. Thus, in order to achieve greater equity in the allocation of spots, there will be a first phase of telematic pre-registration that will also serve to understand the real demand of families and children’s needs. Subsequently, there will be a draw to allocate the spots, ensuring families the same access and choice possibilities for colonies and fortnights.
Camps
A total of 425 people will enjoy a different summer in the various camps prepared by the City Council this year. The camps offer the opportunity to enjoy natural environments; practice hiking, water sports, and multi-adventure activities or participate in workshops, parties, excursions, and many other proposals. There are three camps offered: Nautical (in Los Alcázares, Murcia); Multi-adventure (in La Bisbal del Ampurdán, Girona), and Children’s Nature and Environment (in La Vera, Cáceres).
As a novelty, this year a specific camp for teenagers aged 15 to 17 has been launched in Los Alcázares with 80 spots.
More for children and young people
In addition to Colonies and Camps, Imagina has prepared other summer activities such as Summer Schools of art and circus; creative workshops (performing arts, urban dance, or creativity) or workshops of the Ecological Summer at the Nature Classroom.
Also noteworthy is the Young Trip to the Camino de Santiago for people aged 18 to 30, which will take place from June 21 to 27, and, as always, and now open to all registered residents of Alcobendas, there will be special price days (Open Days) to enjoy the Amusement Park, Faunia, Aquopolis, Atlantis, and Warner Park.
Camps and sports activities
In terms of sports, there will be nearly 2,000 spots offered between the José Caballero Municipal Sports Center and the Valdelasfuentes Sports City for residents of all ages, from six months onwards.
The program includes a varied offer: sports camps, youth camps, rhythmic gymnastics camps, hockey, taekwondo, karate, judo, yoga, fencing, futsal, triathlon, basketball, modern dance, tennis, paddle… with the possibility of adding meal times to facilitate reconciliation. Additionally, there will be swimming courses for all levels, zumba, yoga, Pilates, crossfitness, boxfitness…
To facilitate family reconciliation, there will be two mini-camps that complement the offer of camps at the Municipal Sports Center, which will be from June 23 to 27, non-school days, and from July 28 to August 1.
In addition to all of the above, Los Veranos de Alcobendas include proposals for seniors, leisure activities, and information on the Non-school Work Reconciliation program.
