Residents of Majadahonda have until Monday, March 31 to apply for the socio-economic and environmental bonuses established by the municipality for the 2025 garbage fee.
Those eligible to apply include residents receiving the Minimum Vital Income (IMV), who will receive a 50% discount, as well as seniors with a pension below the annual amount of the Minimum Interprofessional Salary, currently around 16,000 euros. Additionally, individuals with disabilities receiving a permanent or total disability benefit below that amount will receive a 30% discount, as stated by the City Council in a press release. These circumstances must be properly documented by the applicants.

On the other hand, Majadahonda taxpayers who wish to benefit from the 10% discount on the 2025 garbage fee for deliveries to the Clean Point must prove they have made at least five deliveries in as many months from November 2024 to March 2025, including up to March 31.
As explained last November, this is an exceptional deadline for the first year of the fee’s implementation, as in subsequent years, deliveries must be justified by December 31 of each year.

Residents interested in this discount must complete a form with their personal information and the details of the property in which the taxpayer is registered, such as the cadastral reference, when using the Clean Point located at El Plantío road, 47, across from the Cercanías train station.
Starting in 2026, it will be possible to domicile the payment of the garbage fee, which will add a 5% discount to the bill.

In Majadahonda, this fee will amount to approximately 150 euros per year, or even less, for most owners of properties designated for residential use in the city.
The specific amount for each property will depend on the cadastral value – with up to 13 brackets – and the square meters built (multiplied by a coefficient linked to its cadastral value).

The number of registered individuals in the property will not be considered for the fee calculation, thus not penalizing large families. Additionally, garages up to a cadastral value of 2.5 million euros are exempt from paying this fee.
The Majadahonda City Council has delayed the implementation of the fee, which is mandatory before April 10, 2025, to the maximum extent possible, in accordance with Law 7/2022 on waste and contaminated soils for a circular economy, adhering to legal deadlines and reaffirming its commitment to a moderate and flexible tax policy.
