Madrid will experience its Holy Week with more than twenty processions parading through its streets from Good Friday to Easter Sunday. This 2025, the official route in the Centro district is consolidated with the passage of more than a dozen processions through Puerta del Sol, and the emotional saetas sung from iconic balconies by renowned flamenco artists will return, initiatives that will make this celebration a unique experience and reaffirm the city as a splendid tourist and cultural destination during Holy Week.

The brotherhoods and fraternities accompanied by their valuable processional floats will fill the city with solemnity, fervor, tradition, and art. The processions will begin on Good Friday (April 11), with the departure from the parish of San Ramón Nonato of the Christ of Forgiveness and the Virgin of Mercy, followed by the Holy Christ of the Well and Our Lady of Sorrows, which will parade from the parish of San Raimundo de Peñafort, both in Puente de Vallecas.

Palm Sunday, Holy Monday, and Holy Wednesday
On Palm Sunday (April 13), there will be an intense day with four processions traversing the city: Our Father Jesus of Love (Borriquita), Our Father Jesus of Forgiveness (Procession of Silence), the Holy Christ of Faith and Health, and the Holy Christ of Faith and Forgiveness (Los Estudiantes), accompanied by the image of the Immaculate Mary, Mother of the Church.

On Holy Monday (April 14), it will be the turn of the Christ of the Way, while on Holy Wednesday (April 16), the Holy Christ of the Three Falls and Our Lady of Hope will also make their way, along with Our Father Jesus of Health and the Blessed Mary of Sorrows (Los Gitanos).

Maundy Thursday and Good Friday
On Maundy Thursday (April 17), from the church of San Pedro El Viejo, the processions of Our Father Jesus Nazarene ‘The Poor’ and the Blessed Mary of the Sweet Name in her Solitude will open. As they pass through Plaza de la Villa, around 7:30 p.m., the singer Moisés Vargas will perform a saeta. From the Collegiate Church of Our Lady of Good Counsel and San Isidro, the procession of Our Father Jesus of the Great Power and the Blessed Mary of Hope Macarena will depart, making the official route, passing through Puerta del Sol around 9:30 p.m., where Morenito de Íllora Hijo will dedicate a saeta from the balcony of the Real Casa de Correos. On this day, the procession of Our Father Jesus the Divine Captive and Our Father Jesus Nazarene and the Virgin of Solitude will also take place.

On Good Friday (April 18), the procession of the Divine Captive will depart from the Almudena Cathedral, making the official route and passing through Puerta del Sol around 9:45 p.m., where the singer Manuel de la Tomasa will perform a saeta from the balcony of the Real Casa de Correos. From its Basilica, the Christ of Medinaceli will depart, also making the official route and passing through Puerta del Sol around 9:30 p.m. Upon reaching the Four Seasons Madrid Hotel on Calle de Alcalá, the singer Lela Soto will dedicate a saeta from the balcony. There will also be the procession of the Christ of the Halberdiers, which will cross Puerta del Sol around 10:05 p.m. As they pass through Plaza de la Villa, around 9:00 p.m., the singer Reyes Carrasco will pay tribute with a saeta. Additionally, on Good Friday, four other processions will take place: Holy Burial and the Blessed Virgin of Solitude, Immaculate Mary of the Seven Sorrows, Holy Burial, and the Procession of Silence.

Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday
On Holy Saturday (April 19), the procession of Solitude and Abandonment will start from the church of Concepción Real de Calatrava, making the official route and crossing Puerta del Sol. As they pass through Plaza de la Villa, around 6:30 p.m., the singer Rocío Luna will sing a saeta.

On Easter Sunday (April 20), at 11:30 a.m., the Eucharist will be celebrated at the Jerónimo Monastery of the Corpus Christi (Convent of the Carboneras), concluding with the traditional Resurrection Drumming by the Brotherhood of the Coronation of Thorns (Zaragoza), which will parade through the streets of central Madrid, ending in Plaza Mayor.

Accessibility
The accessibility of the routes of the different processions will be linked to the accessibility of the public roads. Due to external factors and the high influx of people at certain times during the events, the planned physical accessibility conditions may be subject to modifications.

This Holy Week, an area with seats has been set up to watch the processions on Palm Sunday, Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday at Puerta del Sol, in front of the Real Casa de Correos (free access until full capacity with entry and exit only through Calle de Carretas). This area will have reserved spaces for people in wheelchairs and/or with reduced mobility.

All information about the itineraries and estimated passing times through Puerta del Sol is available on the official Tourism website of the city of Madrid, esMADRID.com. /
