The Móstoles City Council will install five large «Goyescas» Meninas figures in different locations throughout the municipality as a new addition to the May 2nd Festival programming. Citizens are invited to take photos with the figures, share them on Instagram, and receive a prize for the most «likes» accumulated.

The City Council, through the Department of Education and Festivities, has prepared a special program for the May 2nd Festival, featuring unique Meninas figures inspired by the iconic Goyescas, placed in various locations to enhance the streets of Móstoles with symbols from that era.

These large figures will be integrated into the city, bringing art to the streets and will be displayed at the Plaza del Pradillo, Avenida de la Constitución (CA2M area), Plaza de España, Avenida de Portugal corner with Goya Street, and Parque Finca Liana (opposite Teatro del Bosque).

The first figure has already been installed in Plaza de España, with the rest transforming the urban landscape of the municipality until May 30th. Mayor Manuel Bautista has personally inspected the quality of these artistic works.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to take photos with the figures, upload them to social media, specifically Instagram using the hashtag #meninasmostoles, follow the Móstoles City Council account, and have a chance to win a mini-Menina based on the photo with the most «likes».

This exhibition is part of the «Meninas Madrid Gallery» project created by artist Antonio Azzato, paying tribute to the characters in Diego Velázquez’s painting from 1656. The project allows for personalized reinterpretations and decorations of Meninas figures, inspired by one of the most iconic works in art history.

The Meninas Madrid Gallery project, established in 2018, has held 7 editions in Madrid, creating over 350 Meninas with the involvement of more than 250 artists and celebrities who have left their unique mark on each piece.

This exhibition is part of the «Meninas Madrid Gallery» project, created by artist Antonio Azzato, which pays tribute to the protagonists of Diego Velázquez’s painting from 1656. This masterpiece features the Infanta Margarita of Austria posing with her ladies-in-waiting, known as «meninas,» and other characters that capture the interest of the painting, displayed at the Prado Museum in Madrid. «Las Meninas» is one of the most reinterpreted works in Art History, alongside the «Mona Lisa.» This inspired Azzato, the artist and creator, to develop this project that allows for the reinterpretation and decoration of Meninas figures in a personalized way. Meninas Madrid Gallery started in 2018, has held 7 editions in Madrid, and has created over 350 meninas, thanks to the participation of more than 250 artists and celebrities who have left their unique mark on each work.
