La Guardia Civil, within the operation of the old school, arrested three individuals who arrived at a bank branch in Morata de Tajuña (Madrid) obtaining a prey of 50,000 euros.
As the Guardia Civil reported in a statement on Saturday, the criminals pretended to request a loan and subsequently brandished their weapon at the bank worker and a technician to obtain the money.
As the bank’s security cameras captured the events, two men entered the branch wearing caps, glasses, and work overalls, engaged with the worker to request the loan, and when he was about to inform them, one of the robbers brandished a firearm and threatened to force him to open the safe.
Eventually, it became necessary to open the safe, a technician was forced to enter and detained against his will. When the safe was opened, they struggled with the employee and managed to make off with 50,000 euros.
Once the Guardia Civil became aware of the situation, a surveillance operation was set up in the area, while specialized agents in violent robberies began gathering information about the incident.
A third party was involved
Based on the testimony of various witnesses, the agents learned that a third person was involved in the robbery, who was in charge of security work during the robbery and also responsible for driving the vehicle in which they fled. A vehicle that had caught the attention of pedestrians since it was yellow.
The progress of the investigation led to the identification of the driver of the vehicle, as well as the material authors of the attack. One of them had a previous conviction for another robbery that took place in Madrid later on.
Additionally, two home searches were carried out in Arganda del Rey and Madrid Capital, where a real firearm was recovered, along with the clothing used in the robberies and cash. The judicial authority decreed the imprisonment of the two material authors of the event. The third individual who stole the vehicle used in the robbery was released on bail.
