In 2024, the annual maximum record of tax savings was set at a total of 7.6 billion euros
The president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, will increase the remuneration for healthcare professionals on holidays or weekends, is considering the extension of Metro Line 1 to Madrid Nuevo Norte, and will launch a new foster care plan for wards.
These are some of the measures that the regional leader will announce this Wednesday in a press conference at the Real Casa de Correos, coinciding with the halfway point of the current term, in which she governs with an absolute majority.
Ayuso will detail that the tax cuts approved by the regional government since 2019 have resulted in «an average savings of 10,575 euros for Madrid taxpayers.» Furthermore, she will emphasize that in 2024, the region also set the annual maximum record of tax savings thanks to these reductions, totaling 7.6 billion euros, according to the estimate that the president will advance.
Additionally, among other measures that will be implemented, there is the increase in remuneration for all staff of the Madrid Health Service (Sermas) for shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays. In this line, the regional government will raise the continuity care supplement in several hospital units, as well as remunerations for working on January 6.
Also in terms of healthcare, the public Infanta Leonor Hospital will be expanded to improve healthcare for over 300,000 residents in the southern part of the capital. This will be complemented by the opening of playgrounds and libraries in public schools in the afternoons starting from the 2025/26 school year.
Ayuso will announce that there is a study on extending Metro Line 1 to Madrid Nuevo Norte to facilitate the mobility of over 175,000 citizens and work is underway to modify the route of Line 4 to include the Bambú stop in its path and have its terminus at Chamartín.
On the other hand, 112 million euros will be invested in new infrastructures and public services in 128 municipalities, benefiting directly 70% of Madrid’s towns and around two million residents.
The largest public access electrolinera will be opened in central Madrid, and a new comprehensive foster care plan will be implemented for wards to grow in a home until the age of 21.
In terms of culture, zarzuela and Madrid’s cocido will be declared Cultural Heritage to preserve their legacy, while a project will be launched in June to create and consolidate startups in strategic sectors such as biotechnology, the environment, and aerospace. Finally, a new drone strategy will be promoted with a network of exclusive airports, secure operations, and easier flight permits.
