Judith Piquet refuerza seguridad en Alcalá con más policía de barrio y cámaras de vigilancia

The mayor of Alcalá de Henares, Judith Piquet, has highlighted the excellent coordination among the security forces at the Local Security Board held today. «The collaboration between the Local Police, National Police, Civil Guard, and Civil Protection is key to ensuring security in our city,» she emphasized.

Piquet emphasized the success of the security operations during the 2024 Fairs. «Thanks to efficient planning, we achieved a significant reduction in relevant incidents, consolidating Alcalá as a safe city for residents and visitors,» she stated.

The mayor announced new security measures to enhance surveillance in the city. «We have launched the Integral District Units, with patrols assigned to each neighborhood, reducing response times and improving proximity to residents,» she explained.

Piquet highlighted the incorporation of highly visible vehicles. «These resources increase the sense of security and prevent crime,» she pointed out.

The councilor reported on the implementation of the Eurocop Mobile system. «This technology allows us to analyze data in real time, identifying conflictive areas and optimizing police resources,» she noted.

Another advancement mentioned by the mayor is the future installation of OCR cameras and video surveillance. «These devices will allow real-time license plate detection and enhance security in strategic locations,» she highlighted.

Regarding youth security, Piquet announced the creation in the coming months of a specialized section on violent gangs. «We aim to act preventively to avoid their proliferation and ensure safety at events and sensitive areas,» she affirmed.

The mayor revealed that work is underway to establish a Canine Unit. «This team will be essential for drug detection in parks, shopping centers, and events,» she informed.

In terms of infractions, Piquet highlighted a 69.35% increase in drug-related citations and a 7.65% rise in penalties for public drinking. «These data reflect our commitment to combating substance consumption in public areas,» she stated.

In traffic, the mayor mentioned a 4.11% increase in accidents but also underscored a 37.3% reduction in drug-related vehicle penalties. «Preventive campaigns have yielded positive results,» she explained.
