Jornadas de Puertas Abiertas en el Centro de Residencias Artísticas de Matadero Madrid

The Centro de residencias artísticas de Matadero Madrid, a contemporary creation space of the Área de Cultura, Turismo y Deporte, will celebrate its Open House Days on Friday, June 13th and Saturday, June 14th, to showcase the projects of national and international resident artists, who will share their work processes, research, and creation. Throughout the year, the Centro hosts various activities that offer insight into what happens behind closed doors, but it is during these Open House Days, held three times each season, that all residents share their work through different activities and conversations with attendees.

This edition of the program includes guided tours, roundtable discussions, audiovisual presentations, sound activations, exhibition devices, and concerts. The Centro’s doors will be open on Friday, June 13th, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and on Saturday, June 14th, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Admission is free until full capacity is reached.

Participating Artists

The Open House event will feature the four creators of the bi-annual residencies for visual artists: Christian Lagata, Álvaro Chior, Amaya Hernández, and Julia Huete, along with the four beneficiaries of the first quarter: Aldo Urbano, Pablo Capitán del Río, Fermín Jiménez Landa, and Clara Sánchez Sala.

An exclusive preview of their work for the upcoming Bienal de Pontevedra will be offered by Andrea Dávila and Carlos Fer, residents of Novos Valores, a new collaboration between the Diputación de Pontevedra, the Fundación Nicole & Walter Leblanc from Brussels, and Matadero Madrid. Additionally, residents Lenka Kubelová and Lea Culetto, participating in the international mobility residency program conducted by Centro in partnership with Snehta (Athens), MGLC (Ljubljana), and Meet Factory (Prague) with the support of Creative Europe, will showcase their projects. Virginia Torrente and Rafa Barber will accompany these artists during the event and throughout their residency.

Attendees will have the chance to explore the projects of the duo Gente que miente, composed of Paz Alberta and Clau, beneficiaries of the music production residency for bands, as well as Sara Martín Terceño, a resident in Art and Education. Supported by curator Bani Brusadin, the event will also feature residents of Medialab’s Situated Research, including Ana Esteve Reig, Maia Gattás Vargas, and the XenoVisual Studies Collective (XVS). The Association of Cultural Mediators of Madrid (AMECUM) and the artist-assisted studio Debajo del Sombrero will also participate in the activities.
