The City Council of Madrid, through Madrid Calle 30, will kick off tonight the first phase of the summer campaign for resurfacing the M-30. This stage, which will run until July 20th, will cover a total surface area of 21,800 m² – equivalent to 1.6 linear kilometers – using around 1,600 tons of asphalt mixtures. Although the campaign will continue until mid-August, this year it has been decided to schedule the work in phases to minimize disruptions to traffic as much as possible.
During this initial phase, the focus will be on three areas: the A-1 entrance to Madrid, the A-1 exit, and the interior lane of the westbound bypass tube. The work will take place both at night and during the day from Monday to Thursday, and exclusively at night over the weekends. Alternative routes will be provided for the affected sections.
The City Council advises extreme caution, adjusting speed to the current signage, and recommends using public transportation while avoiding private vehicle circulation in the construction areas whenever possible. The progress of the work can be monitored at any time on the City Council’s Incidents Portal.
Operation 1: A-1 entrance to Madrid, section ZT at Manoteras junction
During the first operation, focusing on the A-1 entrance to Madrid at the Manoteras junction (ZT), milling work will be carried out at night from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am on the nights of July 2-3 and 3-4. Subsequently, asphalt paving will be done over the weekend from 9:00 pm to 9:00 am, from the night of July 18-19 to July 20-21.
These activities will involve closing the A-1 exit lane from Madrid, with the possibility of merging onto the A-1 north via the M-11 exit ramp and the option to change direction at Arturo Soria. Also, the A-1 entrance lane into Madrid will be closed, with alternatives being the A-30 south via the direction changes on Avenida de la Ilustración or Paseo de la Castellana.
Operation 2: A-1 exit from Madrid, section ZL at Manoteras junction
The second operation will affect the A-1 exit from Madrid, also at the Manoteras junction (ZL). In this case, milling work will be carried out at night from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am on the nights of July 3-4 and 6-7. Asphalt paving will also take place over the weekend, from the night of July 18 to 21, following the same schedule as the first operation.
These works will require closing the A-1 exit lane from Madrid, diverting traffic towards the A-1 north via the M-11 exit ramp and allowing a change of direction at Arturo Soria. The A-1 entrance lane will also be closed, with vehicles needing to merge onto the A-30 south via the direction changes on Avenida de la Ilustración or Paseo de la Castellana.
Operation 3: Interior lane of the westbound bypass tube
Lastly, the third operation will be carried out on the interior lane of the westbound bypass tube on the M-30, between kilometer points 14+000 and 15+000. Milling work will be done at night from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am from July 6-7 to July 9-10. Asphalt paving will occur over the same weekend as the previous operations, from July 18 to 21, from 9:00 pm to 9:00 am.
These interventions will necessitate closing the westbound interior bypass, access to the bypass from the A-3, and the access ramps from the Pirámides area. As an alternative, vehicles can use the interior lane of the M-30 heading towards A-6. /
