The exhibition "Origen," by the Madrid artist Mar Solís, opens to the public tomorrow at CentroCentro, an art space within the Department of Culture, Tourism, and Sports, with free access. Curated by Lorena Martínez de Corral, "Origen" is an art installation created by Solís specifically for the fourth floor of the center. It consists of over 20 works, including sculptures and large-format drawings that exceed the limits of the medium and create a three-dimensional triptych in the space.
The pieces are divided into three segments: ‘Disimetría,’ ‘Gravitación,’ and ‘Energía.’ They all share a genuinely sensorial and abstract language, intertwining concepts of opposites: symmetry and asymmetry, attraction and expansion, light and darkness, matter and antimatter, and a time where present, past, and future converge in the same temporal space. A language where the persistent presence of the curved line stands out, complete circles that combine with circular or elliptical lines, fragmented, broken, and attracting each other to form new universes.
"Origen" constantly alludes to Mar Solís’s great interest in science, especially theoretical physics, and its intersection with art as a tool to propose new ways of perceiving our lives. The installation allows the viewer to engage with the space, becoming the essential element of the exhibition.
Performance Materia. Tiempo
CentroCentro will organize guided tours by the artist and curator. Additionally, as part of the exhibition, on March 7th at 8:30 pm, "Materia. Tiempo" will take place, a performance reflection on the concepts of time, space, and matter in modern physics, through a choreographic intervention using the sculptural work from the exhibition.
After the performance, visitors will be invited to interact with the intervened sculptural pieces and their infinite movement possibilities. Dates, schedules, and registrations will be available on the CentroCentro website.
