According to the Quality of Life Survey in Alcobendas 2024, 95.7% of Alcobendas residents are satisfied with living in their city, giving it an average satisfaction rating of 8.3 out of 10.
Overall, the survey results reflect that Alcobendas is a city that notably meets the expectations of its residents, maintaining a high level of satisfaction and well-being, surpassing most Spanish and European cities.
Compared to 11 similar-sized Spanish cities, our city ranks first in key aspects of quality of life. 92.8% of respondents are satisfied with sports facilities; 89.2% with green areas; 85.7% with public transportation; 85% with leisure and culture; 73.2% with cleaning services, and 50% with ease of finding work.
Alcobendas also outperforms the European average in most of the analyzed indicators.
Most Valued Aspects
Among the most valued aspects by Alcobendas residents, security stands out with a rating of 7.8 out of 10, followed by cultural and leisure opportunities (7.5), habitability (7.4), attention to individuals and education (7.3), and health and healthcare services (7.2).
Regarding the general perception of the city, respondents rate its location at 8.7, while external recognition of Alcobendas receives a 7.9. The evaluation of people and the social environment reaches 7.6.
Alcobendas, the Most Valued Administration
Residents value the management of the municipal government above other administrations with a score of 6.4 out of 10. This is followed by the management of the regional government of the Community of Madrid, which receives a 6, while the assessment of the national government is the most critical of all, with a 4, showing a notable decrease of half a point from the previous data.
These results reflect greater confidence in the responsiveness and closeness of the City Council compared to other administrations.
The survey also reveals that security is highly valued by Alcobendas residents, with an overall rating of 7.8, consolidating as a key factor for quality of life in the city.
Residents particularly highlight security in their own homes, which receives a rating of 8.4, followed by the perception of security in the neighborhood during the day (8.3) and in crowded indoor spaces (8). Safety in the neighborhood at night is rated at 7.2.
Additionally, 95% of respondents claim not to have experienced any theft, robbery, or assault, reflecting a safe environment in the city. This data supports the positive perception that residents have about security in Alcobendas.
In this regard, the Alcobendas City Council has implemented various initiatives to improve security in the city, such as installing surveillance cameras, increasing the Local Police force, special security plans, intensifying foot patrols, new vehicles, access control in residential areas, among others. These measures aim to consolidate and enhance the high levels of security that residents already perceive and value positively.
Neighborhood Coexistence
The Quality of Life Survey in Alcobendas 2024 also shows great satisfaction with neighborhood coexistence, highlighted with a rating of 7.4 out of 10, followed by the existence of citizen associations (7.1). In Alcobendas, 15.7% of the population actively participates in an association.
The most active group in the associative world remains people aged 65 and over, with 17.8% being associated.
Urban Environment and Cleanliness
Alcobendas residents rate the urban environment of their city with a score of 7.2 overall, showing high satisfaction with their environmental surroundings, especially highlighting green spaces and urban forest areas, with average ratings of 7.8 and 7.7, respectively. They also rate the air quality at its highest historical value: a 7.
Regarding cleaning services, the perception of the respondents has improved. 73.2% of them express satisfaction with cleanliness, a significantly higher figure compared to other major cities like Madrid (39.5%), Malaga (46.3%), or Barcelona (54.7%).
Health Services
Citizens’ confidence in emergency health services is remarkable. Alcobendas residents rate these services with a 7.1. It is reasonable to infer that the implementation of Semura and its swift response in critical situations significantly influences confidence in emergency services and the perception of quality of life in the city.
At the same level of satisfaction, Alcobendas residents place hospital care in our city.
A City of Opportunities
Citizens perceive Alcobendas as a city of personal, work, and business opportunities.
50% of respondents declare satisfaction with the ease of finding work, a figure that doubles that of major cities like Madrid or Barcelona.
Regarding the business opportunities offered by the city, the best-rated element is the geographical location, with an optimal satisfaction level of 8.4 points, followed by communication networks, which receive an average of 8.1.
The city’s logistical infrastructure, reaching its best historical rating to date, scores a 7.5.
Housing
In line with the existing national concern, respondents show their concern about various aspects related to housing, such as low supply, purchase price (3.5), or rental price (3.3).
In this regard, the municipal government is implementing an ambitious plan that foresees 10,000 new homes in ten years. Currently, there are seven active urban development projects, and nearly 900 public housing units will be delivered by 2027.
In addition to the recently allocated homes from the Avenida de España promotion, the Municipal Housing Company (Emvialsa) is promoting three other public housing projects for rent on Dr. Ángel Olivares, Marqués de la Valdavia, and Diego Salmerón streets.
Furthermore, over 700 homes will be built on two municipal plots that the City Council has provided to the Community of Madrid for the Young Solution Live Plan. In the urban development of Los Carriles-Valgrande, 8,600 homes will be built, with over half of them being public protection.
