El cantante Antonio Carmona
Following the premiere of the 2025 season last weekend, the cultural revitalization program 21 DISTRITOS, from the Area of Culture, Tourism, and Sports, continues to bring quality artistic proposals to the neighborhoods, with free access and for all ages. This week’s programming kicks off on Friday the 21st, at 7:00 pm, with singer Antonio Carmona, who will be at the Antonio Machado Cultural Center (San Blas-Canillejas) to share a cultural encounter with the audience. A celebration of music and friendship in a unique moment where you can get up close with the ‘master’ of live performances.
On Saturday the 22nd, at 11:00 am, Madrid Art Street Project offers the family workshop ‘Ecocam’ at the San Fermín Municipal Public Library (Usera). It’s a participatory proposal to create a camera with recycled materials. Participants will learn the basic principles of photography to then take their own photos.
That same day at 7:00 pm, the Eduardo Úrculo Cultural Center (Tetuán) will host Revolución, the new project by Teatro Sobre Ruedas that combines circus, humor, and live music to question relationships with boundaries and daily weariness. This performance will include a scenic walk beforehand so that everyone can fully participate in the activity.
At the same time, composer and performer Claudio Constantini will offer a concert at the Valdebernardo Cultural Center (Vicálvaro), Bach y Piazzolla, where you can discover and enjoy the bandoneón, an instrument with a melancholic and piercing tone that makes it the perfect companion for the music of these two great composers.
Next week, more culture
As a preview of next week, on Thursday the 27th, at the Aluche Municipal Library (Latina), workshop leader Bárbara Perdiguera will propose a construction game of three geometric shapes: cube, cylinder, or cone. Friday the 28th will be filled with cultural proposals: the workshop ‘Collage Surrealista’, conducted by Madrid Art Street Project at the Vallecas Municipal Public Library (Puente de Vallecas); the premiere of the theatrical piece La buena obra, created by Luz Arcas from a participatory workshop with those over 65, at the Antonio Machado Cultural Center (San Blas-Canillejas); Maestr@s, a show by Naike Ponce that blends flamenco and jazz, at the Santa Petronila Socio-Cultural Center (Villaverde); and the concert by Mikel Azpiroz, taking place at the Valdebernardo Cultural Center, in collaboration with AIE (Society of Artists, Performers, and Executants of Spain).
More about 21 DISTRITOS
This program from the Area of Culture, Tourism, and Sports for revitalizing neighborhoods through artistic and cultural actions was born in October 2020. Its main objectives are to support the artistic community, encourage citizen participation in the city’s cultural life, create new audiences, and optimize the use of the various municipal resources and spaces designed for culture.
Having already surpassed 1,000 scheduled activities and welcomed over 250,000 spectators in its nearly five years of existence, 21 DISTRITOS is much more than just a cultural program: it is a catalyst for diversity, creativity, and inclusion that continues to enrich the cultural life of Madrid. /
