The delegate of Urbanism, Environment, and Mobility, Borja Carabante, presented this morning #MadridEsArte, alongside the five artists who have participated in this initiative of the Municipal Transport Company to make art visible in the streets and bring it closer to the people of Madrid through a visually impactful support such as the bus.
From March 1st to the 10th, five municipal buses will display the different artistic expressions of Anna Barrachina, dEmo, Jaime Monge, Nicolás Villamizar, and Ricardo Sanz. Coinciding with the celebration of Arco Madrid, the International Contemporary Art Fair, the Municipal Transport Company of Madrid in collaboration with Global España, has launched this initiative that aims to bring the work of five artists who reside and work in Madrid to the citizens who, day by day, use public transportation to move around the city. The action also demonstrates the high visual impact and enormous communication potential that Madrid buses have in the city’s life.
The selected lines to showcase this action are 11 (Marqués de Viana-Barrio Blanco), 14 (Conde de Casal-Pío XII), 15 (Puerta del Sol/Sevilla-La Elipa), 112 (Mar de Cristal-Barrio del Aeropuerto), and 147 (Callao-Barrio del Pilar).
#MadridEsArte joins other special actions that EMT Madrid has carried out on dates of special relevance in the city’s life such as San Isidro, a day when buses and bicimad bicycles dressed as chulapos, or Christmas dates, when the Christmas bus was installed in Cibeles to collect letters from Madrid children addressed to the Three Wise Men. /
