El XVIII ciclo de música de órgano de San Ginés comienza con Thomas Trotter

Marta Rivera de la Cruz concierto inaugural de la XVIII edición del ciclo ‘Música de órgano de San Ginés’

The delegate for Culture, Tourism, and Sports, Marta Rivera de la Cruz, attended the opening concert of the XVIII edition of the ‘San Ginés Organ Music’ series, part of the cultural program for Holy Week organized by the City Council of Madrid. The recital was performed by the prestigious British organist Thomas Trotter, holder of the Town Hall in Birmingham.

Rivera de la Cruz stated, «This concert series aims to accompany the traditions of Holy Week, offering a musical repertoire that is only possible thanks to special instruments like the San Ginés organ.»

Trotter delighted the audience with a repertoire that included pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach, John Stanley, Percy Whitlock, Meredith Monk, Bert Matter, and Gustav Holst, highlighting the expressiveness and sonic richness of the organ.

The series will continue next Friday, April 11, with a performance by Carlos Paterson, a professor of organ at the Conservatory of Valencia, and will conclude with a recital by the international concert artist Konstantin Volostnov on Monday, April 14. Both events will take place at 6:30 pm, with free admission until full capacity is reached.
