The Culture, Tourism, and Sports Delegate, Marta Rivera de la Cruz, presented today the XV International Magic Festival in Madrid, accompanied by the illusionist Jorge Blass. Blass expressed gratitude for «bringing the magic of the circus to another festival, as in these times, it is a luxury to be amazed by magic.» Rivera de la Cruz emphasized that «a circus must have magic» and highlighted that «the magical dialogues incorporated into this year’s festival will give it a new dimension.»
Until March 9, this event, already established as one of the most anticipated of the year, will turn Madrid into the world capital of magic, bringing together some of the best national and international magicians in a show that attracts over 30,000 spectators in each edition.
Gala Stage International: the best of the magic world
The heart of the festival is the international stage gala, featuring 28 performances. This unique show brings together the best exponents of the magical arts, from aerial acrobatics with costume changes by Diego and Elena, to the grand illusions of the Canadian Darcy Oake. Also, spotlighting the performances of the Master Comic Magic Voronin (Ukraine), the innovative manipulation of Hun Lee Time (South Korea), and the magic of the Bar Adrian Kill (France). Jorge Blas, recently awarded Stage Magician of the Year by the Hollywood Magic Arts Academy, will present exclusive acts specially designed for the festival.
«Magical Dialogues»: beyond illusion
The festival also offers a reflection on the art of magic through «magical dialogues.» Abracadabra, the power of magic in solidarity will explore the impact of magic and its transformative capacity in fields such as psychology and health, with charitable magicians and experts like Fernando Botella, Lary León, Jorge Blas, Passion Vega, Jacob Suraeda, Sonia Clavero, and Pablo Carbonell. In Deception and Illusions, Jorge Blas will discuss with Jordi Camí, Doctor of Medicine and professor at Pompeu Fabra University, about the connection between magic and deception.
New recognitions and talents
During the festival, the «Madrid Magic City» competition will also take place to reward the most innovative proposals from young illusionists. This year, the award of the same name will be given to Ángel Idígoras, a reference in Spanish graphic humor, illusionist, and writer. Recognized for his work in the magazine Jueves and the newspaper El Mundo, along with his brother Pachi, Idigoras has made a profound mark and is acknowledged as one of the great geniuses of the genre. The award will be presented on Thursday, February 13, at 8:00 p.m.
Additionally, on February 18 and 19, at 12:00 p.m., the Price Circus Theatre will open its doors to create the most charitable magic. Wizards and Magicians from the Abracadabra Foundation will perform two solidarity shows aimed at associations and disadvantaged groups. /
