The delegate of Housing Policies and president of EMVS Madrid, Álvaro González, inaugurated the II Information Day of the Housing Advisory Service (SAVMadrid), which this year focused on accessibility. González highlighted the value of the Adapta Madrid Plan of the City Council, aimed at funding actions to adapt homes, as well as ground floor premises and common elements of residential buildings for people with disabilities and/or rare diseases, «achieving a more autonomous life for those in need.»
Thanks to the Adapta Madrid Plan, the delegate explained, 2,315 actions have been carried out in its five editions (2020-2024), «with 70% of the works related to reduced mobility, 12% to visual impairment, and the remaining 18% distributed among hearing impairment, intellectual disability, or rare diseases.»
Pioneering and free service in collaboration with ICAM
In 2023, the Housing Policies Area, in collaboration with the Illustrious Bar Association of Madrid, launched SAVMadrid, a pioneering and free service that provides comprehensive advice on housing, whether from a tax, legal, or judicial perspective. Since its inception, it has received and resolved over 11,100 consultations (11,170) in the five offices located in the municipal boards of Usera, Moratalaz, Ciudad Lineal Chamartín, and Centro, demonstrating, as González emphasized, «the great reception that SAVMadrid has had among citizens.»
The most consulted topics have been related to rental (6,121) and property owners-horizontal property communities (2,555), followed by issues related to buying and selling (595), occupation and evictions (389), successions and donations (214), protected property ownership regulations (195), housing assistance and rehabilitation (193), taxation (87), notarial, registry, and cadastral management (80), cooperatives and community property (60), separations (37), and others (644).
SAVMadrid operates three days a week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday) from 9:00 to 14:00, by appointment at the phone number 900 814815 and on the websites Transforma Madrid and the ICAM Legal Orientation Service. Consultations can be made by individuals living in the city of Madrid or those residing elsewhere, as long as the query relates to a property located in one of the 21 districts of the capital. In addition, informational talks on housing-related topics are scheduled at SAVMadrid offices.
This municipal service is one of the support and information measures for citizens in housing matters promoted by the City Council in the previous term, along with the Green Office (which provides advice on rehabilitation and energy efficiency), the Housing and Rehabilitation Observatory, and the Transforma Madrid website. /
