El reconocimiento al compromiso del Cuerpo de Policía Local en Parla

El Alcalde y el Comisario Principal de Policía Local pasan revista antes del acto de San Juan

The Parla City Council celebrated this Tuesday, coinciding with the feast of San Juan, the patron saint of the Local Police, the annual institutional event that publicly acknowledges the commitment, dedication, and involvement of the workers of the Local Police Force in the provision of citizen security services.

The event, held at the Isaac Albéniz Theater, was attended by local government officials, representatives of municipal corporations, Local Police, firefighters, and guests from other State Security Forces and Bodies, along with union delegations, civic entities, and family members of the officers. They showed their support for the more than thirty police officers and other functional bodies’ leaders who were recognized for their extraordinary efforts in various security areas.

«The unity among all institutions is key to achieving the best results and continuing to move towards a safer and more cohesive Parla,» emphasized the Mayor of Parla, Ramón Jurado Rodríguez, who also highlighted «the close collaboration» with the National Police Force. «Because unity among all institutions is key to achieving the best results and continuing to advance towards a safer and more cohesive Parla,» as evidenced by the results of the ‘Plan Parla.’

«We are aware of the increase in crime we experienced last year and that various circumstances did not help much. However, instead of sensationalism and alarmism, we rolled up our sleeves to reverse the situation. With responsibility. With a significant reinforcement of personnel and with the presence of the UIP, the UPR, the cavalry, and even air support,» explained Jurado, thanking the Delegate of the Government in Madrid for his support, as well as the involvement of the current Commissioner of the National Police and the Principal Commissioner of the Local Police, to achieve the good results of the ‘Plan Parla’: «Today we can say that practically all criminal typologies have decreased, thanks to that coordination – I will not tire of repeating it – placing us 0.6 points below the regional crime rate.»

«We are not satisfied, and we will continue to demand what we consider necessary to provide the best resources to the security forces so that they can carry out their work with the guarantees they deserve,» emphasized the Mayor.

In this regard, he noted that the request made to the Government Delegation of Madrid for the review of the National Police catalog has resulted in an increase of 40 new positions, with 34 of them filled this year, in addition to 8 officers in training in the coming days. This was also highlighted by the Principal Commissioner of the Local Police, who pointed out that, for the first time in over twenty years, the CNP’s staff catalog has been expanded.

«Security concerns us and occupies us,» stressed Ramón Jurado, affirming, «We want Parla to be a safer place every day, and that is why we work to continue strengthening the necessary resources for our Local Police to carry out their work under the best possible conditions.»

He also mentioned the recent call for 20 positions in the local security force, which will bring the staff to 150 officers. «A total of 46 new local police positions in the last 6 years. Something unprecedented in our municipality and that I dare to qualify as historic,» he stated.

In addition to the increase in material resources in recent years, with 33 new vehicles, drones, uniforms, sound level meters… The Mayor announced the rehabilitation and conversion of an old municipal building into a proximity police station in the renovated Plaza de la Guardia Civil, whose administrative procedures are being finalized. «An office that we hope to inaugurate before the end of this year.»

Special mention was made to the officers and volunteer members of the Civil Protection who went to Valencia to assist those affected by the Dana last October, as the Mayor concluded by praising their «extraordinary intervention» in aiding and rebuilding after the passage of the Dana in Valencia: «You took the spirit of Parla where it was most needed.»
