El público infantil y familiar disfruta de la danza en Centro Danza Matadero

The Centro Danza Matadero, a space within the Area of Culture, Tourism, and Sports, continues its mission to integrate all audiences into this artistic discipline. With this inclusive perspective, the new theater of the Madrid City Council, exclusively dedicated to dance, presents in April and May two proposals focused on the children’s audience.

The Madrid-based company Aracaladanza, choreographed and directed by Enrique Cabrera, will showcase Loop, Winner of the 2022 FETEN Award for Best Dance Show, on April 24 and 25. The performance challenges the boundaries of the stage, aiming to unleash the imagination of spectators of all ages. The same cutting-edge artistic team that has shared creativity, inventiveness, and aesthetic values for over two decades makes the performance space the protagonist. Dancers, stagehands, curtains, lights, and backdrops share the stage with stairs, carpets, and mats, transforming dance into a magical show infused with a subtle sense of humor.

Since 1995, Aracaladanza has become an international benchmark for Spanish performing arts, earning the respect of the public and the admiration of critics. Invited to participate in the most important national and international festivals in Spain, France, Ireland, and the United Kingdom, their works have traveled to major theaters in Europe, Africa, the Americas, Australia, and Asia. Tens of thousands of children and their families have been able to enjoy their different performances showcasing artistic excellence.

A Space Journey Full of Strength and Movement

Barcelona-based choreographer Roser López Espinosa presents Cometa, a contemporary dance creation that can be seen on May 24 and 25 at the Nave 11 theater in Matadero Madrid. Cometa is an unexpected traveler who, through her curiosity and discoveries, invites audiences to look at their surroundings with fresh eyes. With her, the audience will embark on a galactic adventure to rediscover and marvel at the force of gravity, the possibilities of movement, and the power of empathy; geometry, play, and the speed of light; the universe, imagination, and interstellar travels. Cometa has captivated both young and old with over 200 performances worldwide.

Roser López Espinosa’s choreographic work combines strong physicality with subtlety, acrobatic elements, and a love for detail, in an imaginary world full of play, refined poetry, and a touch of humor. Trained at the MTD/University of the Arts in Amsterdam (Netherlands) and having danced with Àngels Margarit/Cia Mudances, Cesc Gelabert, Iago Pericot, and filmmaker Isaki Lacuesta, among others, her work as a creator has been present on the international scene since 2006. She is a guest choreographer for international companies, and her creative work has been featured in prominent festivals in Europe, North America, Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia.
