Unemployment in Torrejón de Ardoz has reached the lowest number of unemployed people in a February in the last 17 years. The total number of people unemployed in the city has been reduced by more than half since 2013 when there were 14,391 unemployed, despite the active population of Torrejón increasing by 5,168 people (96,788). Torrejón ended the month of February this year with a total of 6,586 unemployed people, compared to the 14,391 it had in February 2013, reducing the number of unemployed people in the city by more than half. «As mayor, I decided to directly take on the responsibilities of Economic Development and Employment, as these are one of the main priorities of my government, as we demonstrated when I was a councilor for Employment and managed to reduce both the number of unemployed people in the city and the unemployment rate by more than half compared to 2013, currently having the lowest figure in the last 17 years in a February,» said Alejandro Navarro, mayor of Torrejón.
