The Teatro Circo Price, a space within the Area of Culture, Tourism, and Sports of the City Council of Madrid, is hosting for the first time the Circo Raluy Legacy, one of the most prestigious and award-winning circuses in Europe, presenting their latest production CYBORG from May 31 to June 29.
With over a hundred years of history and six generations dedicated to the circus world, Circo Raluy Legacy is one of the few circus museums in Europe and the only one run by two women. Their artistic proposal combines the most genuine tradition of classic circus with a contemporary and avant-garde staging, transporting the audience to the golden age of the circus thanks to their collection of perfectly restored caravans from the early 20th century, which can also be visited during their stay in Madrid.
The most awarded in Spain
Recently awarded the prestigious ‘Big Top Label,’ Circo Raluy Legacy becomes the only Spanish circus to receive this recognition, considered the ‘Michelin Star’ of the circus world in Europe. This award certifies the artistic and technical excellence of their shows, reaffirming their position as an international reference in the circus arts and leaving a mark on the history of the circus in our country.
Now, after a successful tour of the country’s main cities, Circo Raluy Legacy arrives at this space in the City Council of Madrid. «A journey to the past and the future from the present that revolutionizes the world of art and takes us to a universe full of unreal, magnetic, almost robotic, daring characters,» comments Louisa Raluy, co-director of the circus. «You will see highly risky performances, unexpected creatures, roaring machines, impossible balances, space flights, and lots of humor,» she adds.
The diverse and international artistic ensemble includes the sisters Niedziela and Emily Raluy, who return with their thrilling skating act after three years off the stage; the mysterious and hypnotic contortionist Sophelia Skye; the Argentine group Legión Malambo; the Brazilian Segura Riders; and the clowns Dimitry and Pietro, among others.
CYBORG is presented as «a cybershow full of human values, where the evolution of the circus meets the revolution of art.» This is how its co-directors Louisa and Kerry Raluy define it, highlighting the choreography, the striking costumes, and the daring staging of the production. In the words of Kerry Raluy, «we are facing a daring, revolutionary, and bold staging, all wrapped in brilliant choreography and striking costumes.»
Additionally, the audience can enjoy the exhibition of caravans before each show and during the intermission, fully immersing themselves in the atmosphere of a historical circus. /
