The delegate of Urbanism, Environment, and Mobility, Borja Carabante, has received the Green Faconauto Award, granted to the City Council of Madrid for its Cambia 360 aid program, within the framework of the 34th Congress & Expo of Faconauto. This initiative, framed in the Madrid 360 Environmental Sustainability Strategy, has already reached more than 117 million euros in aid, as the delegate has pointed out. Out of this total, 67.2 million have been allocated to promote the transition of private vehicles, taxis, and goods distribution to sustainable and less polluting models. Carabante has explained that the Cambia 360 aids have allowed the renewal of 16,952 vehicles in Madrid, reducing the average age of the city’s fleet to 11.5 years compared to the national average of 14.5 years, «a factor that contributes to less pollution and greater road safety,» he emphasized.
For the delegate, Madrid 360 represents «a paradigm shift in the sustainability model,» driven by «the collaboration of companies and citizens who have understood and supported the benefits of this change.» All of this, he noted, has also been crucial in consolidating Madrid as an international benchmark in environmental sustainability, meeting the European air quality objectives for the third consecutive time, while cities like Paris, Rome, Berlin, London, and Milan have failed to do so.
