The district of Tetuán closed 2024 with a budget execution rate of 94.8% (excluding Chapter 1), a percentage in line with the overall execution of the municipal budget and faces an increase from 4.5% to 40.86 million euros.
Improving educational facilities was a priority for the district during the year that ended with over 300,000 euros invested, of which approximately 170,000 were used for the improvement and refurbishment of seven public schools and over 133,000 for up to four playgrounds.
In this fiscal year, Tetuán continues its investment effort to enhance its urban space and provide the district with new equipment that, in recent years, have resulted in, among other actions overall, Perón, improving accessibility in several elderly centers and the enhancement and construction of new facilities, such as the Moliner María Children’s School, operational since last January, and sports facilities like the Summer Pool, the district’s first, which opened in August with a three-million-euro investment.
Soon, the municipal sports center, Cuatro Caminos, will embark on its journey to accommodate over 9,200 m2 with pools, spa area, more activities, cafeteria, and rooftop outdoor space.
Among this year’s investments are the remodeling of Plaza de Leopoldo de Luis, with 192,000 euros; work on educational centers, with 176,000 euros, and actions to improve accessibility in the Almenara neighborhood, with 165,000 euros.
Social Accounts
The District Municipal Council allocates over 70% of this year’s budget to social services, with a special focus on caring for the vulnerability of the elderly and promoting actions to prevent unwanted loneliness situations.
Additionally, the district will promote socio-educational leisure activities for children and teenagers in the district that promote family reconciliation and will include an urban teenage camp and the «Family Tetu» program for psychosocial support and socio-education, aimed at families with minors at risk or in vulnerability.
Another cornerstone of the district is cultural activities, which this year have a budget of 1.88 million euros to promote and bring culture closer to residents and continue with such significant events as the Flamenco Festival or the Poetry Festival for under 35s.
Of the 4.2 million euros in territorialized investments, those carried out by the various government areas in the districts, 3.3 million euros will be allocated to continue the urbanization works of Paseo de la Dirección, in which, starting from 2019, the municipal government has already invested around four million euros. Additionally, the construction of 124 public houses for affordable rent in the same direction, with an investment of over 24.6 million euros, has begun and will start the recovery works of spaces in the AVCA area, through the historic agreement reached by the Municipal Council at the end of last year with residents, businesses, and traders in the area.
