At the end of May, the National Police carried out six operations in just 24 hours in Leganés, Getafe, Parla, Usera, and Puente and Villa de Vallecas.
The National Police reported on Monday that at the end of May, in just 24 hours, they conducted six operations against drug trafficking in the Community of Madrid, including the capital, leading to the arrest of about twenty people and the dismantling of up to nine drug distribution points in various locations in the region.
The first operation, carried out in Leganés and Getafe, began in 2023 when a family clan located in Leganés was suspected of being involved in the distribution of drugs, mainly cocaine, as explained by the National Police in a statement.
Police investigations revealed that behind this clan was a clearly hierarchical criminal organization with defined roles. They had established their operating area in Leganés, with a significant number of daily transactions by buyers from the southern area of the Community who traveled to the organization’s distribution points.
The organization accepted cash payments, so they had a money counting machine and a counterfeit detection machine. They also had a card machine for bank payments and accepted payments through applications.
On May 28th, three raids were conducted in Leganés and one in Getafe. When the organization members noticed the police presence, they threw part of the drugs and a safe box out of the windows of the houses.
It was discovered that the criminal group hid drugs in shoeboxes, mobile phones, inside cabinets, and even under mattresses. Additionally, they classified the substances in bags labeled with phrases like ‘turkey breast’ or other letters and colored dots.
The operation resulted in the seizure of cocaine and other drugs such as tusi or marijuana, mobile phones, precision scales, and over 3,000 euros in cash. A dozen people were arrested on charges of belonging to a criminal organization and drug trafficking. Seven of the detainees have been remanded in custody by the judicial authority.
SECOND OPERATION: DRUG SALES BY APPOINTMENT IN PARLA
The National Police reported a second operation, initiated in March when they became aware of a house in Parla where drug sales were taking place by appointment. Investigations revealed that this activity was carried out with prior scheduling.
Furthermore, the house was used for storing and preparing drugs for sale. The person in charge worked on this task from dawn to dusk and employed «numerous security measures» to hinder police activity.
On May 27th, a search was carried out at the residence, leading to the seizure of various drugs such as cocaine, hashish, and marijuana, drug preparation materials, precision scales, a mobile phone previously stolen violently, and over 1,800 euros in cash. The detained individual was charged with drug trafficking and sent to prison.
CONSECUTIVE OPERATIONS IN USERA
The National Police also reported two consecutive operations in the Madrid district of Usera. The first operation began in December 2024 when it was suspected that drug sales were taking place in two homes in the area.
After confirming the information, on May 27th, two residences were searched, resulting in the seizure of drugs, bladed weapons, and over 2,600 euros in cash. Three individuals were arrested on charges of drug trafficking.
The second operation started in April when drug sales were suspected at a home in Usera. On May 28th, a search was conducted at the residence, leading to the seizure of cocaine and heroin. A male suspect was arrested for drug trafficking.
TWO OTHER OPERATIONS IN PUENTE AND VILLA DE VALLECAS
Lastly, the Police reported two operations in Puente and Villa de Vallecas. The first operation concluded on May 27th with the discovery of cocaine, drug distribution materials, four large knives, and 2,000 euros in cash in a house. Two individuals were arrested for drug-related offenses.
In this case, citizen collaboration helped confirm that drug sales were taking place in the residence, located near three schools, a playground, and a sports area, where two individuals were selling drugs in the presence of their three minor children.
On May 28th, National Police officers stopped a vehicle moving at an «abnormally slow» speed in the Villa de Vallecas district. During the vehicle search, which involved the Special Canine Unit, two kilos of cocaine were found in the glove compartment between the front seats, leading to the arrest of the driver on suspicion of drug trafficking.
