Descubre el koto japonés y la dramaturgia contemporánea con 21 DISTRITOS

21 DISTRITOS, the cultural revitalization program of the Area of Culture, Tourism, and Sports of the City Council of Madrid, returns this week with a schedule focused on training in the performing arts and the discovery of the koto, a Japanese national instrument.

From May 6th to 8th, at 10:00 am, the renowned Argentine actress, director, and teacher, Fernanda Orazi, will conduct a research laboratory, a workshop aimed at professionals in the performing arts at the Emilia Pardo Bazán Cultural Center (Salamanca district). This training aims to place acting at the center of the stage as the first intensity of the theatrical experience and, therefore, the support and source of the expressive plots it unfolds, so that participants can delve deeper into their own dramatic art.

On May 8th, at 7:00 pm, the Carril del Conde Cultural Center (Hortaleza) will host a concert of traditional Japanese music featuring the koto, a 13-string instrument of varying sizes considered one of Japan’s national instruments. Artist Yoshiaki Okawa –Kotomen–, in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in Spain, will offer a recital showcasing the rich sound and expressiveness of this ancestral instrument.
