The II School Olympics of Las Rozas have just completed a new edition of this initiative that seeks to stimulate creativity, promote artistic expression, and encourage literary appreciation among primary school students in the municipality. In total, 1,443 students from the CEIP Fernando de los Ríos and Mario Vargas Llosa schools and the Zola school have participated in this edition, in which 12 different artistic categories have been proposed, all centered around the literary work The Wizard of Oz.
«It is a masterpiece that speaks to us about moral courage and highlights values such as friendship, companionship, trust and solidarity, family, courage, justice, honesty and tenderness or understanding, and in this way, both children and adults will learn that the journey, any journey, is a symbol of personal transformation,» said the Councilor for Education and Culture, Gloria Fernández.
With this work as a reference, four general categories have been proposed: Plastic Arts, Dance, Music and Singing, and Story and Poetry. Each of them, in turn, has generated three different subcategories for students in 1st and 2nd grade, 3rd and 4th grade, and 5th and 6th grade, respectively.
Development and medal awards
The II Cultural Olympiads of Las Rozas began on February 1st with the initial phases of the competition, which took place in the schools themselves with a first selection of the works created.
