The Coslada City Council has proactively activated the Territorial Emergency Plan, Platercos, due to the rise of the Jarama River as it passes through the Estación neighborhood.
The city’s Local Police have stated that there have been no issues in the area, although the measure was taken following instructions from the Community of Madrid, after activating level 1 of the Flood Plan due to the forecast of heavy rains.
The Coslada City Council has chosen to activate the municipal emergency plan because meteorological calculations indicate that rain will continue in the coming hours and based on information received from the regional administration regarding ongoing reservoir releases.

The decision was made in collaboration and coordination with the Community of Madrid and the Government Delegation in Madrid, entities with which, for a few days now, the Mayor of Coslada, Ángel Viveros, has maintained constant communication due to this issue, as stated by the City Council.
It is added that since the first warnings of a possible overflow of the Jarama River, the Coslada City Council has increased police presence in the Estación neighborhood through Local Police patrols, in coordination with the National Police.
Given the expected duration of these rain episodes and reservoir releases, cleaning tasks in sensitive areas have been intensified and the Parks and Gardens, Street Cleaning, and Roads and Works departments, as well as the aforementioned Local Police force, are constantly active.

Regarding incidents, the Local Police Headquarters have reported occasional closures in the tunnels of Cañada Avenue and at the moment, traffic is suspended on the Coslada-Vicálvaro road, only in the outbound direction.
The reason is the recurring water pooling that occurs on this road near the truck parking lot in the area, which is within the municipal area of Madrid. «Repeated requests have been made to the City Council of the capital for a solution, but so far none has been provided,» they concluded.
