Conmemoración de las víctimas del Holocausto en Las Rozas

The Municipal Council of Las Ronas organized a Law to commemorate the victims of the Holocaust on the International Day, which takes place every year on January 27. Presided over by the Deputy Mayor of Las Rozas, Gustavo Rico, accompanied by the Councilor for Family and Social Services, Ruth Agra, Yifah Curiel, cultural attaché of the Embassy of Israel, Ana Pellicer, Coordinator of Institutional Relations of the Sepharad-Israel Center, Natalia Cogut, communication director of the Jewish community in Madrid, Patricia Weisz, daughter of the survivor Shicoá and president of the Violeta Friedman Foundation, and relatives of the diplomat D. Ángel Sanz Briz, known as «Angel Budapest.»

The commemorative law, held at the Pérez en Riva Cultural Center, also received the assistance of first-year high school students from IES POZAS 1 and various members of the Municipal Corporation. Throughout the event, in addition to the various interventions, a symbolic light of six candles was lit and a minute of silence was observed. The event ended with the screening of the film «history teacher» and with words from Patricia Weisz.

«It is important to continue celebrating events like today. We cannot afford to forget. With the passing of the last survivors of the Holocaust, we cannot forget the ignorance that humanity can fall into. We cannot lose our memory, because if we do, we will lose everything,» said Rico.
