Coinciding with the feast of San Isidro, this Thursday, May 15, the municipal summer pools open their doors to the public until September 7. With a free first day for users, 17 summer pools will be available to the people of Madrid starting tomorrow: Mistral, Blanca Fernández Ochoa, Concepción, Hortaleza, Aluche, Casa de Campo, El Quijote, José María Cagigal, La Elipa, Moratalaz, Entrevías, San Blas, Paseo de la Dirección, San Fermín, Margot Moles, Cerro Almodóvar, and Plata y Castañar. Due to technical and weather incidents, the facilities of Santa Ana will open in the coming days and those of Vallecas and Palomeras on June 1.
Throughout the summer, the service will be expanded by opening other facilities to the public where works are currently being carried out to improve the municipal service in Madrid: Peñuelas (Arganzuela), Luis Aragonés (Hortaleza), Vicente del Bosque (Fuencarral-El Pardo), Orcasitas, and Moscardó (both in the district of Usera). Except for the Orcasitas sports center, where the works affect the changing rooms, comprehensive reforms of the summer pools of these municipal facilities are being carried out.
The offer will be completed with covered heated pools for recreational use, which have a solarium area accessible from the pool, and their opening dates can be consulted on the municipal pools website.
Regarding the schedules, three shifts will be maintained: morning (from 10:00 to 15:00 h), afternoon (from 16:00 to 21:00 h), and a third full day shift (from 10:00 to 21:00 h). Users of this last shift will be given an identification bracelet that they must wear visibly throughout the day to facilitate control by the facility’s staff.
